Yep, that is because most of west and southern Africa were not settled in large number when Ancient Egypt and Kush became prominent. It would make little sense to leave the Great Lakes/Nile Area 7,000 or so years ago when the poulation in the world and on the continent was very small. So basically you can't equate DNA accurately with location or we just assume that Tut was born in the Great Lakes. Only thing that can be determined is concentration based on currently "settled" population groups. Migration patterns throws off DNA, but DNA can be used to track origin. In addition, Africans have the most diverse DNA and the least amount of genetic mutations.
