Was CNN's War Report really that BIG when it Dropped?

Outside of the East coast? Highly doubt it. You could label it a regional classic in many people's opinion. Me personally? Classic album.

Only 3 classic east coast albums I can remember being played by anybody in their rides were

As far as east coast and underground yes. I had the album when it 1st dropped here in the west it, i remember biggie was to be featured on the tony remix but was killed a week prior woulda been epic. Closer gotta lot of play on radio at the time

Ya'll shouldn't sleep on The Reunion. Not as good, but still a great C-N-N album.

It wasn't a mainstream smash, like many NY great/classic records of the mid 90's it was more regionally known.

Unless you were in that region or reading The Source religiously, you wouldn't have known much about it.

It's like me - I didn't get Illmatic till IWW came out, didn't even hear of Mobb till Pac dissed them, and didn't listen to War Report till after NORE dropped Superthug lol.

Different times...labels were indie, radio stations were indie...not like today.

But I love this album, but it was definitely not a mainstream hit.

And off topic, I'd say more people knew of AZ over Nas back when Doe or Die dropped as far as mainstream goes.

Great album, one of my all time favorites. I don't think it was "big" though, that's a reach. It hit hard for a certain demographic, but they didn't have the same type of impact as Mobb, Wu, prime BCC etc...
