I have the whitest name possible even down to the middle name. I get a call back on a lot of jobs I apply for (could just be the resume though) I think the name helps but it’s all about the interview your name not getting you a job.

I work for one of the top tech companies in the world, and they definitely do this, but for a different reason. They don't want the recruiter to think that they need H1B if they have full Indian names. Off the top of my head Parth, Priya, Aesha, etc. were all nicknames of Indian hires.

The president of my company is indian and he goes by RJ publicly. Let's not pretend that nicknames aren't a thing.

And his birth name is as middle eastern as you can come across it has he hasn't changed. He actually hooked me up with a few times before career wise.
