Wow, I'm actually shocked at how many people are defending Walmart in here. That's pretty sad. I do agree that a lot of Retail jobs don't lead you anywhere but you could say that about a lot of different jobs. The point is when a company is making the money Wal Mart makes you can't sit here and tell me it's OK to be paying people poverty level? And have benefits that are that low. Also a lot of people didn't get a chance to go to College for whatever reason. They can't just leave their job and hope to the next. Look at the economy. If you leave you job you may be out 6 months to a year easily. Also College sadly isn't a "LOCK" to get you sh!t. Look at all the recent grads who are working jobs at Wal Mart cause they couldn't find work. This is a new era. Me personally I figured out the retail game was a trap when I was younger. The max you could hope for is management after that there really is no where to go. This is why I think people need to sit down and focus on what they want in life and go for it. These jobs sadly won't get you anywhere. With that said, Wal mart are some damn crooks. I can't believe it takes someone 6 years to go from 8 to 10 an hour. That's damn near slave labor folks.
Just go and look at the college thread and see the mindset of people in there. There are numerous people claiming college is unecessary and a waste of time...blah blah blah. These same people will then 15 years later claim that Walmart should pay them $15 an hour because they have no other options. Its rediculous. Walmart is simply an employer. If you don't like how they run their business you do NOT have to work there. This isn't some communist country where people are mandated to work at certain places for certain wages! That is the beauty of capitalism...
