I followed Dooling out of Missouri. Him and Darius Miles, and I think Olowankandi had the squad that was hype to really make some noise. (Im a Suns fan)

The media hyped up Strickland and Richmond as the best backcourt in the NBA

Garnet, Gugliotta, Starbury made the TWolves competitive for years ALONE.

That era was when I followed the NBA religiously. It was a lot more competitive and memorable then it is now.

The infamous AI crossover against Jordan :banderas:
We should've taken Mike Bibby in that draft- Olawakandi was a major bust for us and I even remember him playing at University of the Pacific in Stockton, Ca. Mitch Richmond's better days were with the Warriors. Garnett and Starbury only played like what- 2 years together before Starbury wanted his own team and bounced? I get it if you had fun with league back then but don't make the statement that it was overall better back then.

Muthafuc the Wall Street Journal....NBA is an international Product...they dun rely solely on US TV numbers...nor do they need to..yea the NFL is King as far the US goes..but they dun cross borders...like the Association does...4 or 5 more Larry Birds and the NBA would have buried the the NFL years ago...its a better product as well, but CACS been watering it down the same way they did the NFL....(pure offense/no hand checkin...FOH)......

Truth is the product is too black for these CACS and you can see it on the looks of their faces when they sitting court side cuz they only cocksuckas who can afford court side...but they love the game regardless...they couldn't stay away from Rock, James Brown, Hip Hop and Black dikk..and basketball ain't no different...they might not watch a whole game..stream it half the time...but they love the product...NBA is fine...its that shytbox NHL you gotta worry about...need to melanize that shyt in a hurry...LOL

Agreed.

People can get together before the season and pool together funds for LP and Extra Innings. It beats sketchy streams

While we're on the subject, Boxing needs to stop fukkking around as well.
boxing comes on free tv all the time :francis:

and if there is an event on showtime or HBO quality streams can be had EASILY :manny:

I think people who still follows the NBA religiously now are just millennials who didn't grow up watching Jordan, AI, Kobe in prime, GP, The Admiral, Barkley, Kemp, Marbury, Penny, etc who really made the game great. Back then it was really competitive and every team had a one or two stars that could make some noise and upset anyone at any given time. Now it's just infused with nobody fukkbois with bland personalities and boring teams with boring games. :russell:

Best post yet. Im 32 and used to be the biggest NBA fan in the world. I used to cop SLAM Magazine religiously, knew damn near entire rosters up and down, hell i even got a few games recorded on VHS for some reason. Now, the only team that i really have an emotional connection to are the Spurs. Thats it. The only players i care about are the handful of players left that i grew up watching. Im pretty much at the point where its "wake me up when the playoffs start". I dont care about any of the players. Obviously, its mainly cuz im older now. Players just seem immature and bland today. I guess the players seemed more like "grown men" when i was younger and that made the overall game better. By the time im 40 i doubt ill be watching at all. Sucks because i use to be addicted to the NBA. That passion is gone now:mjcry:

Players definitely did seem more masculine 15 years ago but this is more about the culture of our society changing than sports

It's cause these slack jawed faggits that pass for stars now have no basketball IQ, no heart, and play in a league where illegal defense is allowed. This is the inevitable result of giving bytch ass cac purists and journalists what they were screaming they wanted all through the 90's and early 00's. Even they don't wanna watch the shyt and I know I don't. :francis:

These are solid players but not worth mentioning to me:mindblown:

Plus you're all over the place. You're comparing a entire decade of the "90's" with the 2015-'16 season. Is that even fair?

I've had league pass for years. You've got stars and fun teams to watch. The Warriors, Rockets, Clipps, Spurs, Kings, Raptors, Bulls, Cavs, Knicks, Pistons, Pacers, Bucks, Mavs, Hawks, Hornets, Heat, Magic, Wiz, Thunder, Wolves, Jazz, Blazers

Ok yeah not all of them have a shot at the title, so what! There's never been this amount of watcheable teams in the league.. not even in the 90's. Yeah the 90's were fun but it was all top heavy and marketing the top heavy teams especially Jordan and the Bulls.

The article is specious. That is why they are mentioning cable ratings and not its non-cable ratings. The ratings for NBA games that air on broadcast are great. No one watches TNT, but the ratings that NBA gets for it are still the highest on the network. The only other sport that gets higher ratings in football.

My thoughts exactly breh.

I dont care about ANY of these new-nikkas any more. The dynamics of the game is changing. It's really bland today. :scust:

How did the league turn its back on Lebron?
The favor that Lebron got from his first few years in Cleveland and stint in Miami...from on court calls to being the media face of the NBA has diminished significantly. The league recognized fan fatigue over the "King James" treatment he used to get...and when he left Miami that was basically the last straw as to where now the idea of Lebron being considered a whiney diva is something the league is ok with, they never would have allowed him to have that persona in 05 or 06, he was too valuable to the league...now not so much:yeshrug:. They've got Steph Kyrie AD Wrestbrook and others to entertain relatively well. Parity. Bron brought it on himself in ways...but the league pays attention to fan sentiment.
