If you did a blind test and printed out Wale and Cole lyrics, most people I feel would think Wale is better. Cole be too on the nose with topics and is far less poetic than Wale.

Having said that, I actually love listening to Cole and I cant say the same about Wale. I stopped listening to him after Back to the Feature (my favorite era of Wale)

Wale has better mixtapes. Better albums. Better singles. Better concerts (I've been to both)

Cole is just a bigger artist. Has better delivery and vocal tone. He's "better" to listen to.

He might also have better features.

Wale, but Wale will only be a great artist once he realizes lyricism is NOT his lane.

He be trying so hard to be Jayz sometimes:mjlol:

Cole comes off much better becUse he stays in his lane more....Wale needs to realize he just doesnt pull off the slick, witty style like Jay does....he potentially would make better music if he focused more on being direct, but saying powerful shyt that moved people:wow:

He broke down that song about Cocaine on Everyday Hustle, and while it was dope he needs to realize first of all its not THAT clever...and coming from him nobody cares, thats just not his lane or how people see him for whatever reason....appreciate his attempt but he should try a different approach....for somebody whos emotional,he sure takes an emotionless approach to his music it feels.

I got immense love for both artists on everything, but on paper Wale is better in everything that matters, except connecting with people.

Thats legit it.

Wale can rap circles around most of the industry easily, but he just doesn't come across well to many.

J.Cole is a def gifted rapper, but his real pull is the earnestness he puts in his music, and that connects to people.
People want to see him win, and so support.

Wale doesn't get that same response on any level, so he's steady grinding, but he's got issues that hamstring him as well.
I'd love this era if J.Cole stayed where he was, and Wale switched places with Big Sean, honestly.

My #1 is already straight, just make way for my #2
