I disagree strongly with all of this except the features part.

Cole is a great rapper, but Wale is too, and in terms of word play, creativity, he has a significant edge.

Also ya'll care too much about album sales.
Nobody gives a fukk about some forced wordplay

J. Cole is significantly better in voice, candence, flow, enunciation, storytelling, and just rhyming bar to bar

Cole has a story millions relate to he has smoked Wale on every song I’ve heard them on

Post examples of wale's wordplay that gives him a "significant edge" and his creativity

Cole for the better part of post 2017 has been lyrically improved, as shown on songs like Under the sun, American Dream, Off season Album etc

and conceptually they at the same level when it comes to making up ideas for songs and albums

i feel like you only saying Wale is better because of him being under the guise and lane of being a "Poet"

which dont mean shyt without the content and proof

It's hard to want to take time to post examples when earlier in this thread you said this...

and clever lyrically dont mean shyt,

So clearly being "clever lyrically" is something you don't prioritize when a rapper's wit is something I hold in high regard.

How familiar are you with Wale's material? As someone who has listened to all of their projects extensively, I find it hard to believe someone could possibly think Cole and Wale are on the same levels of creativity with their pen. Leads me to believe you haven't heard much Wale.

What do you consider forced word play? I think Cole forces punchlines a lot more than Wale forces word play but I guess that's subjective.

J.Cole def has a better voice and enunciation. Storytelling is a strong disagree.

If you think Cole washed Wale on this then we clearly take in music very differently.

He had a single with Rihanna that was on the radio constantly "Bad", when she was at her peak, if he wasn't gonna blow up then, then he never was gonna blow up.

Also doesn't help when he gets outshined on his own songs. Lotus Flower Bomb, Poor Decisions, Beautiful Bliss, most were shocked that these were actual Wale tracks and not a guest appearance.

I enjoyed the Seinfeld gimmick because it really fit his persona. Once he got deep into this whole "YALL DON'T UNDERSTAND!!!" bytching and moaning, I stop giving a fukk about dude.

Wale is the epitome of a food truck cook trying to be a legit chef, and fails to realize only a selective few will eat your food, not the masses :francis:

Its sadly the breaks:yeshrug:

For a talented as I think Wale is, I can’t figured out why his music typically sounds so blah to me. Outside of Fluctuate, the album is a snooze fest to me. I genuinely feel he could make great music though, just don’t know what the disconnect is.
Agreed, only track I liked. Part of it is his nasally voice. I haven’t hit on what else he’s missing as far as average rappers go- but of what I’ve heard from him I like soooo few songs (H2O and that one with Jeremih barely)

There is a ton of lying in here :mjlol:

There is a reason Cole & Drake (Cole bores with me with a lot of stuff, that said Cole discography >>>>>>>>>>>) are on the level they are, and Wale isn't. There is just a disconnect to his music. "Carmel" & track after that one are the two best on the project.

His persona is just the cherry on top, we stan a guy who just "blah" and sensitive?

Wale is not making a "Pipe Down" please do not interject CLB into this
The Aubrey obsession is hilarious :pachaha: especially with these mid ass acts
