What do you consider forced word play? I think Cole forces punchlines a lot more than Wale forces word play but I guess that's subjective.

J.Cole def has a better voice and enunciation. Storytelling is a strong disagree.

Cole=soulful, raspy voice with Southern relaxed Carolina drawl

Wale=cocky, slurry, nasal voice with D.C. area/urrea accent

Cole has superior vocal tonality and enunciation therefore he pockets flows better, conveys emotion better, and is more coherent and enjoyable to listen to

If you talking lyrics Wale has some cool concepts and clever wordplay but that doesn’t put him above Cole

His music don't have a high enough production value to be fun to listen to post MMG. Dude is still a mixtape rapper in that way and the game has moved on from under produced music even from mixtape rappers.

His best beats are just "smooth", hooks don't be that catchy, never really had a " lane", never had a style thats friendly to cac fans but wanted to be "different" for black fans which comes with its own disadvantages. nikka just be rapping. It's just another example of how being a good rapper in itself is worthless in terms of success in the current game.

He shoulda got into the afrobeats scene a few years ago, maybe he could have revived a career there.
