Broke Wave
The GOAT
It's really not something you dwell on, I was just checking out weapons with my family, it was right across from the hunting gear.
It's not the guns hurting people, it's the people with bad intentions that buy the guns. I think the licensing should be a harder process, but taking guns away is depriving people of their rights.
IMO, everyone should be armed.
But it is the guns hurting people. The availability and proliferation of firearms is so widespread that it is impossible to stop criminals from getting them. Guns from "good" owners end up on the streets and killing people because they are stolen or misplaced. Not only that, states with lax gun laws often have conflicting counties with diametrically opposed gun laws. In Chicago for example, it is next to impossible to get a gun. However in surrounded parts of Cook County, it is very easy to get a firearm, even if you are a convicted felon. A stiffer licensing process is a moot point because some places have that and it doesn't work (NYC, LA).
The idea is to get the guns off the street and derail gun shows. Encouraging people, especially African Americans to get firearms, while well meaning, is harmful because they are the one group in society most victimized by the proliferation of firearms and their ready availability, and the gun culture among rural White Americans is among the prime factors.
