The Nas comparison is actually spot on from this aspect...

Nas’s musical DNA perfectly blends components from his rap heroes (Rakim, Kool G Rap, Slick Rick) to make a complete emcee that is better than 98% of his contemporaries

K.R.I.T...same concept (Scarface, Dungeon Family, UGK)

Always thought KRIT should be where Cole is...but the way college age (mainly women) support Cole, KRIT never got that same kinda love.

KRIT & Currensy get disrespected imo
He didn’t have that JayZ co-sign like Cole but I think he should’ve did more high profile collaborations in the later half of his career. I want him to work on the collab project with Spitta tho

He most likely had complete artistic freedom, we blame the label for giving artist artistic freedom and we blame them for forcing people to work with big names, do features with big names etc.

Dude came out like this, very basic song and says nothing about the artist.

Then when that didn't work exactly like he wanted it to he came out like this, good song but it just sounds like another pop song but with mixed with hard rapping.

He just doesn't have the IT-factor, knowing how to make music that resonates with a wider audience and taking advantage of what's popping. At the same time not creative or working with good enough producer to be ahead of the curve. He was confused about how he wanted to his commercial approach to be received.

That doesn't take away from his talent or the fact that is albums are better than Coles (although I still hold verse/EP/mixtape Cole higher).

Money On The Floor was my shyt tho :russ:

8ball, MJG and 2Chainz floated on that shyt. Roll something up on a warm night and ride out to this while doing the speed limit
:wow:

He ain't lying, Krit is super underrated.

Dude is like a more soulful J Cole. A J Cole if he stayed in a Friday Night Lights bag and even then Krit is still colder especially on the beats. He even did the best Rhythm Roulette imo if you've seen that show.

Why do you blame his management and where do you think they went wrong with him?
#1 You need a MAJOR cosign. Everyone in his class arrived with a superstar introducing them to their fans IE Kendrick=Interscope, Drake = The ENTIRE industry, Cole = Jigga, Sean = Kanye, etc.

2 - How do you have number 1 rapper at the time Future give you a feature and never release the song officially ?

3 - Kanye gave you the blueprint, his team should have got him some beat placements to get his name ringing in the clubs. If your a southern based MC your shyt needs bang at parties/strip clubs

Great point, I didn't even remember that Future gave him a feature but looked it up and I remember the snippet now. It's crazy he never put out the full song officially.

Also dope of a producer as he is he should have got more placements for sure. Gibbs even recently spoke on wanting to work with him so hopefully he makes that happen.

Now that's a good look. If he could lock in with Gibbs for a project, but only spit on 1-2 songs would be dope.

My favorite artist from the post-09 era. May not get the same success as peers like Kendrick, Cole, Drake, and Big Sean (:hhh: Big Sean), but if all dropped at the same time, Krit is the first I’m listening to. He has that soul in his music far more than his peer group, on top of being an excellent producer. The only blemish on his resume is his most recent album, which he intentionally was hands off with as far as production and concepts go (he’s explained that he wanted to “step outside the box” on that album), and in turn, it really didn’t feel like a Krit album. All it did was make me look forward to his next album where I know his fingerprints will be all over it. Damn South Nas is a cool comparison. But I always looked at him as the Scarface of his peer group, where he want get the commercial success of his peers, but his peers highly respect him and simply makes better music than them. Got Me Through, Highs & Lows, Rotation, Package Store, Boobie Miles, Temptation, 2000 & Beyond, Made Alot, R4 Theme, Players Ballad...I can go on and on about the endless soulful powerful tracks he has. :salute:

lol out of all the corny rappers out there,

Krit? really?

Seriously, all of those dudes on the first page sound dumb as hell saying this, and clearly didn’t get the daps they thought they’d get making that post. Krit is one of the most humble, reserved, and relaxed dudes out there. Meanwhile, some of y’all’s faves (is specially guys in Krit’s direct peer group) are MAJOR cornballs and try-hards.

He’s a good producer. But he ain’t bringing in enough income to make the labels pay for his samples.

he never was gonna be a mainstream artist

I was rooting for Krit back in 2011 and 2012. But nothing ever materialized from his hype.

always though he would had at least one classic studio album by now

Same here, his first couple mixtapes were fire then his studio albums were duds.
