I think that the poster was being sarcastic. I mean if this was about another certain NY rap legend doing a song with Waka, 90% of the comments would be about how this is an example of how that rapper does nothing but ride trends and hop on whatever is hot. It's a double standard, Nas doesn't get that kind of scrutiny here. Nas can work with people like Waka, Minaj, Kerry Hilson, Wayne, Ross, Lil Jon or anybody else that he chooses to work with without being called a dikkrider and such. It's just music, none of these guys should be hated on for petty reasons.Yea when the world was snapping their fingers and shaking their Laffy taffy Nas was dropping Hip Hop Is Dead
When everybody was licking Lolipops and crying about break ups through auto tune Nas was dropping ******...
A real follower of popular trends that Nasir
When the whole world was crunking Nas made at least 2 songs with Lil John. Quick to Back Down was even a single they tried to push for Nas' group.
One song was a group song with 4 of the dopest MC's in Hip Hop over a dope beat, it wasn't a crunk "Shawty get Low in the club" type track. And the other like you said was for his group, Nas himself was shying away from those type as a solo artist. He was dropping Made You Look (A throwback Boom Bap type track) and I Can (an uplifting track)
When everybody was using Indian flutes in the late 90's/ early 00's we got Angels The Flyest.
One song for a soundtrack, not an album or even a single
When the entire NY scene decided to ride the mafioso style we got It Was Written and The Firm
Nas, along with Kool G. Rap and Raekwon were amongst the PIONEERS of the Mafiaso style of NY rap. Nas was rapping as Nas Escobar as early as 95 on 4,3,2,1 Doe Or Die and OBFCL. He didn't follow the trend, he helped jump start its popularity
When Ruff Ryders were hot Nas made sure he got some of that DMX shine too. We got a movie and some songs out of that one.
Again, Nas was the premier NY artists of the time, DMX and Nas were and still are cool, it's not like Nas went and made an entire album with Swizz Beats and started barking on songs. That's like saying that T.I would be following a trend of he happened to collab with Jeezy at the height of their careers, their both Southern trap rappers who are cool, it makes sense for them to collab.
At the peak of Young Money's run we got appearances from Nas on Nikki, Wayne, & Tyga's albums. MMG looks like they got next, so of course we got Nas on Ross' album.
Rick Ross was trying to collab with Nas since his first album. Nas was on Ross's album Deeper Than Rap, they obviously have respect for each other musically. And I already spoke on Nas collating with Young Money as an example of him being diverse enough of an MC to be able to make a dope collaboration with Flocka that isn't rapping about "Pyramids and Egypt"
Of course none of this is examples of riding trends tho..
Don't forget how he briefly aligned himself with Murder Inc back in '02 when they were near their peak. I'm not advocating that Nas be hated on for any of that, he's a rap artist in the music business. The double standards and agendas that these posters have when it comes to Nas is funny though. Like the poster above bending over backwards breaking his back to defend Nas from being called a guy who works with people because their hot. Hilarious. When the whole world was crunking Nas made at least 2 songs with Lil John. Quick to Back Down was even a single they tried to push for Nas' group.

The thing is Waka, Minaj, Ross, and Wayne got Nas ON THEIR albums. Not the other way around. So I don't know how Nas is riding whatever is hot when they're the ones WHO ASKED him to appear on THEIR albums. There's a big difference.
This's an example of rappers following a hot trend:
Mic Geronimo - Nothing Moves But The Money (HD) - YouTube
Oh yeah, Nas will be on Big Sean album too.
So Ross wasn't on LIG? Wayne wasn't on DR? What about that Kerry Hilson joint for Untitled? What about that Chris Brown joint for Untitled? There is no difference between what Nas does and what a certain other rapper gets crucified for doing, and that's the point. You could even say that he's more blatant with working with other "hot" artists. This is the same guy that got Eminem to produce a track for his album without getting a verse from him. Personally, I don't have a problem with Nas working with anybody that he chooses to work with. You can save the excuses and spin for somebody that's hating on him. I'm just laughing at the hypocritical posters with agendas. The thing is Waka, Minaj, Ross, and Wayne got Nas ON THEIR albums. Not the other way around. Kanye said it best:
"Nas could do a song with Puffy one day and do a song with Wu-Tang the same day and it would sound fresh"
