I put $100 in each of my daughter’s 529 accounts per month. That’s under $22,000 without gains for them when they hit 18 yo. They both will get our old cars for college as well.

I wish my daughters would ask me for a dress and shoes over 1k.

Idk what inflation will be like in 2038 and 2041 but I can’t imagine droppin more than $2000 on the night.

My Dad paid for our dinner and we pitched in on the limo. My date didn’t have to pay. These send offs are getting out of control.

For my junior prom, my parents paid for my tux rental, gators rental, (we looked like pimps in 2001, 2002), my date’s corsage, and we split the limo with 3 other couples.

For my senior prom, I took my mom’s 2001 Honda accord, that she took to the car wash for me, and we parked in the parking lot, and walked up to the door, along with other couples who drove regular cars too. There was no crowd of people lined up to watch anyone go in.

Last week, the entire family gathered for my niece’s prom. There was a huge crowd watching everyone go in, and they pulled up in a Discovery, which was on par with most of the other cars. Some kids had Porsches, and luxury cars, but it was a nice crowd, and nothing over the top. This was a pretty mixed crowd school with black, white, and a bunch of Mexicans.
