Sadly, the vast majority of people have no choice, especially in third world countries.

If you can invest in a career and have the means, you're blessed.
It’s actually less burdensome in third world nations, where poverty is close to universal and wealth not as ingrained in the fabric of society, than it is in first world nations, where a culture of greed and superficiality fills the air and breeds despair among an envious class.

Ain’t nobody paying $60 an hour. They will pay a salary and try to squeeze every once of workable hours out of you as humanly possible.

You should say no one with your set of skills/experience, but there are opportunities to make that much and more. I'm just speaking from my personal experiences.

$60 an hour is over 120k per year. So if the position is a 40 hour full time work week, most companies are not going to pay an hourly wage that high. Especially because of the overtime.

There are positions that do pay that much per hour but normally it’s contract work for a specific amount of time.

NJR and JCP&L pay me $65/hr. as an independent contractor to perform energy evaluations on a percentage of their clients.

My regular employer pays me salary.

This is not a first or third world matter, people struggles to survive everywhere.

I don’t think most men would have an issue with it if the pay was better. Our grandfathers never had any issue going to work at a plant. They were also able to take care of their families and retire when they got old.

Nowadays? :francis:
Plant/factory work nowadays should be a stepping stone. I understand that most get comfortable/complacent working such jobs, but I ain't doin this shyt 20+ more yrs, especially if the retirement age keeps going up

Yea garbage men get paid and it ain’t like the video posted. All they do is push the button and the machine takes care of the rest. All the garbage men that pass by my neighborhood look happy and wave at me whenever I see them drive by.
You get pretty good sign on bonuses, at least waste management does

I don’t know why people look down at others. Everyone is needed

When the garbage man goes on strike and your garbage piles up and rats and roaches are having their way in your house you still going to look down?

When you want that pizza but none is available because no one wants to work for that job.

Being a poor wage slave in a third world nation where everyone around you is suffering from poverty to negligibly varying degrees is quite different than being a poor wage slave in a western world that is driven by hyper consumerism and visibly stratified on economic lines.

I think you only have one perspective and it seems pretty limited. There are high paying hourly & salary positions…base, that don’t require you to work outside of normal hours.

And even if you are working a bunch of hours over, $60/hr even time and a half is still good in comparison to $15/hr.

People gotta get politically active, they have the power, they just don't know they have it. America, especially since McCarthyism, has created a nation of workers, and everybody is about getting theirs, while not checking for the next person, this isolation makes it easy for corporations and legislators backing them to continue doing what they do.

The workers need to rise up, simple as that, of course the steps will be difficult but until it is attempted, no one could reasonably convince me that the American people couldn't have this country flipped over in a year if they really wanted it.
Chris Smalls is a good example. Unionization is coming to Amazon I’m confident in the movement

All I’m saying is most companies prefer to pay a salary with bonuses once you get into the 50k a year range.
