As noted, WWE made several talent and staff cuts on Wednesday as a part of their COVID-19 business update and changes.

Several producers were a part of the cuts – WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle, Billy Kidman, Mike Rotunda, Pat Buck, Fit Finlay, Shawn Daivari, Scott Armstrong, Sarah Stock, Shane Helms, and Lance Storm. While Angle was released, the rest of the producers were furloughed and it’s believed that they will be brought back once WWE resumes regular live event touring, which should begin once the coronavirus pandemic is contained. It’s believed that a few other non-producer employees were furloughed as well, but not confirmed.

In an update, the furloughed employees received an information packet this week following the cuts, according to Wrestling Inc. The packet stated that they were being furloughed because of “the current level of work available as a result of COVID-19.” The coronavirus outbreak was referred to in the packet as an “unforeseen circumstance, akin to a natural disaster.” It could not be confirmed that each furloughed employee received the same packet detailed here, but it was sent to at least multiple people.

The furloughed producers were also told that they will remain on the payroll until this Saturday. Wednesday was their last official work day, but the furlough officially begins on Saturday.

The end date for the furlough is Wednesday, July 1 of this year. However, it was specified that this is subject to extension “given the current situation and ongoing uncertainties.”

It was also stated that while there is no definitive end date, it’s expected that the furlough will last fewer than 6 months. WWE reserves the right to extend or terminate the furlough at their discretion. It was also stated that WWE plans to keep furloughed employees informed of the decisions they make during that period. WWE hopes that the furlough will be sufficient, but they told the employees in the packet that layoffs may be necessary.

WWE will also cover health insurance contributions during the furlough period, for employees that are enrolled in the WWE health insurance plan. They will also retain their seniority with the company. Furloughed employees will not receive a paycheck during the period, but they may be eligible for unemployment benefits, in addition to federal benefits issued due to the coronavirus pandemic.

basically what's happening in pretty much every other business in the country
but because wwe does it, the marks want to make it out to be some evil conspiracy solely done to ruin lives. :unimpressed: it's almost like a virus hasn't touched down on earth and crushed the buildings.

Exxxxxxactly... why would they need 10-15 people backstage to go over matches and shyt right now... just like I'm sure they ain't using all those refs or backstage employees they would usually need... and the wrestlers who are usually only there in catering on some 'just in case' shyt but don't ever appear on TV.

Why did Angle get outright released and everyone else furloughed?

WWE helped her husband get sober. They signed damaged goods but still kept paying him while he recovered. Maria got pregnant right after she signed, they paid her through her pregnancy and maternity. Just when she's ready to get back, she got pregnant again, they paid through her pregnancy and maternity again. This is all while she's publicly asking for releases. If anyone's got shafted, it's the WWE in this case.

Every other business lost their source of revenue, WWE did not. Vince hoarded talent for years and fired his two co presidents because of it. Only to save 700k this month. WWE is going to gross over a billion if they never run another arena show in 2020. WWE being a ‘family’ was a justification for them continuing live events, so why did they boot family out instead of taking the hit together?

Ok but here’s is the thing though.

Cuz for the folks that’s are heavily protecting WWE and trynna defend this.

Why not take this option atleast for now during this pandemic.

Like wasnt it reported that Goldberg Saudi check alone was more than the amount of money saved with a combination of SEVERAL of the guys released?

If money is really that much of a concern or issue, why not just reach out to guys like Taker, Brock, Goldberg (guys that maybe wrestle a combined 5-7 times a year) and maybe furlough them?:ld:

That move alone would SIGNIFICANTLY save them the money y’all claiming they would lose keeping all this other talent and help them stay profitable more than what they already are about to be with this move.

That’s a fair question to ask:hubie:

The argument/discussion is just getting murky in here as some folks trynna use this to take shots at others. I don’t think anyone anymore doesn’t understand “why” this move was done.

I think more people are just upset with “how” or “the timing“ of when it went down.

All in all, I feel for these people and hope the best

Mike BennGOAT may have been the greatest finnesser since J E Double F :wow:

Jarrett was asking for back pay where as the Bennett's fleeced the fukk out of Vince. Probaby paid six figures per year for 3 years, appeared a handful of times on tv, got them to pay for two maternity leaves and for Mike to get sober. They've raised the bar on finessing the WWE.
