You're not wrong, but I will say this:

Despite their position as the #1 wrestling company in the US, of that top 3 (WWE, AEW, ROH) WWE is the one most dependent on a consistent cash flow. Sinclair's total assets are valued at nearly $6 Billion, WWE's are valued at around $700 Million in comparison. Moreover, ROH is a subsidiary of a conglomerate with hands in many different media organizations; they're a part of a corporation that's very much insulated from many of the immediate shocks borne from this pandemic. Vince's money (or his valuation, at the very least), on the other hand, is almost completely tied up with WWE's business operations, which means his fate is very much WWE's. He won't be broke if the WWE were to hypothetically go out of business, but he would definitely be in a bad way.

AEW's in a similar position, in that Shahid Khan's money isn't totally tied up in AEW (many sports organizations, yes, but he made the bulk of his fortune from manufacturing auto parts) and he's far, far more wealthy than Vince, meaning that he's better positioned to keep paying people while shutting shows down. Hell, the very existence of AEW is a testament to his wealth: he pumped a bunch of money into what essentially amounts to a gift for his son, namely a readymade national wrestling organization that Tony can play with to his heart's content. Now Tony, unlike Dixie Carter for example, has done a very good job managing his gift business. But it's still a paramount example of his wealth and privilege nonetheless.

Does this excuse what Vince has done? fukk No. All the problems that would result from them shutting down are problems that existed long before COVID-19 existed, and he either ignored the warning signs or tried to paper over the cracks repeatedly (house show revenues and live gate revenues in general, an overly bloated roster, overreliance on rights fees deals to buttress the depressed wrestling wing of the business, killing their PPV business for the WWE network followed by being completely unable to grow the Network's user base beyond 2 million, overreliance on a small handful of aging stars and not creating/capitalizing on wrestlers that could potentially bring new audiences to the product, not replenishing their aging audience in general...I could really go on). But I at least understand the twisted circumstances that produces a scenario where Vince repeatedly shoots himself in the foot then thinks that cutting off his nose will make everything better.

Re: PPV, are people going to spend $50+ for a show in 2020? Boxing struggles to sell fights unless it's a primetime name (Fury, Wilder, Mayweather, Joshua) and I'm sure UFC has difficulty as well, but ESPN+ softens the blow. The Network isn't a flop. They have millions of paid subscribers at $9.99/month. This isn't the 90s anymore where PPV was the only option. I can illegally watch your event in full 1080p with a stream.

The producers were furloughed, the wrestlers were let go completely. I feel like some will be re-signed when this is over, but no way in hell will every single one of them be back.
Nor should all of them be back. If we're being honest how many of those names were surprises? I feel bad for all that lost their jobs, but no one would be shocked by most of these releases if it had happened before the Coronavirus.

Kurt Angle's shocked me the most. Wasn't he a backstage hand now?

Pretty much, but it’s mostly that way cause a good amount of them were presented as losers outside of Lio Rush (who would be a superstar if he was even Daniel Bryan’s size). Rusev continuously got himself over no matter what character he played and they punished him for it. Same with Zack Ryder, but he’s been a lost guy for a long time despite the crowds still reacting to him, even 7 years after he peaked. Good Brothers were one of the hottest teams on the planet, and the WWE turned them into two bald losers that are friends with AJ. EC3 developed a really good character when he went to TNA, making himself a big bright spot in the company, came to NXT and had fans behind him, then brought him up to the main roster and outside of beating a departing Dean Ambrose, his character was completely assassinated and turned into a joke. This is just the WWE being the WWE. They’ll give you a shyt sandwich then punish you cause it doesn’t taste good. So it’s not a surprise some of these guys have been released, but some of them deserved far better than what they got.

That's the only issue I have with this, the timing is bad and they could've afforded to keep them a little while longer. The reality is that when you look at the list there's only a few that stick out, but the majority weren't doing or weren't valuable anyway.
The reality to me is what happens next for them? Can they go home or are they stuck in Florida? Can they see their families, even if so, they have to go on quarantine for 14 days since they’ve travelled. I’m looking at that side of the coin. Can’t even get a hug from junior or kiss their wives who they haven’t seen in who knows how long.

I don’t care right now where they might sign.

Many were already home FWIW. No one is hanging around the PC unless you're needed.

They deavored Rusev:dahell: They just could never get over him bagging Lana huh.
It seemed like ever since him and Lana announced their home purchase, during the Dolph feud, was the beginning of the end.

Only decent win he got since was the random clean one over D-Bry on Smackdown after Brian returned - prob more DB just wanting to put him over.
