It was
reported yesterday that lawyer Konstantine Kyros released an affidavit in which Ashley Massaro claimed that WWE told her to keep quiet about being sexually assaulted on a Kuwait military base in 2007. WWE later released a statement saying that this was false.
In the latest edition of
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer got comments from WWE attorney Jerry McDevitt, who said that no one has been able to corroborate the story. He said that the idea of a meeting between Massaro, Vince McMahon, Kevin Dunn and John Laurinaitis was “complete bullshyt” (as the affidavit claims). He added that those who the affidavit claimed knew, like Jimmy Hart, Gary Davis and Ron Simmons, who were told by Maria Kanellis, denied knowing anything or being told anything. Likewise, Kanellis has denied being told the story.
McDevitt said: “
If she was told something like that, there is no way she wouldn’t recall it. If somebody told you that, you would remember it for the rest of your life.”
The only part of the affidavit that was confirmed is the part that Massaro was treated for dehydration, as John Pollock of PostWrestling found a
series of diaries from Davis in which he mentions it.
He wrote: “
We are all starting to feel the effects of the heat, in order to deal with the hot climate, we are told to keep drinking water constantly. Even then, sometimes the heat can overcome you. At the next autograph session, Ashley begins to swoon. Our base escorts demand she be taken to the Medical Center, despite her protests to the contrary. While doctors checked her out, we proceeded to our next destination, Camp LSA Mess Hall where we meed the base commander, Lieutenant Colonel Tim Eichorn, for lunch.”
