Great news for the women, though I’d prefer a belt for female midcarders since WWE’s tag formula bores me.

Because there's only two official teams on Smackdown and both are heels, Mandy/Sonya and The Illconics. And neither is at championship level.

So, I'm gonna just concentrate on the RAW side of things. And just going off the way people have been positioned in the last few weeks, I'd say it's gonna come down to Sasha/Bayley vs. Nia/Tamina. Folks have been calling for Sasha and Bayley to get those belts since all this speculation began but I wouldn't put it past the WWE to swerve and make Nia/Tamina "dominant, monster heel" type champs.

YOu have Sasha/Bayley vs Nia/Tamina in the finals...Alexa interferes to help Nia/Tamina win and becomes their manager or adviser while she is still on the IR list and then do a program of Sasha/Bayley chasing the belts until they finally win them at Wrestlemania.
Simplest fukking booking concept in all of wrestling.
So I expect the belts to go to Ronda/Natalya in the tourney and then for 7 different teams to hold the belts before Wrestlemania even comes around.

that would be a dope way to plant seeds for the 4HW vs 4HW if they still tryna do that

have Sasha and Bayley win the belts and promote that they'll be showing up at the next TakeOver for an "open challenge" match

then have Jessamyn and Marina accept the challenge, match ends in some kind of dusty finish to keep the feud going

now you got a Sasha/Bayley vs Jessamyn/Marina feud for the tag belts while Becky and Charlotte are tied up with Ronda

As mentioned above, it's a shame Naomi and Asuka aren't teaming anymore. I liked them as a team better than even Sasha and Bayley.

Character wise they are an odd pairing but their styles are really complementary imo. I can see them as either rivals forced to work together (i. e. The Bar) or like you said, as an odd couple mismatch (i. e. Goldust/Booker T)

Getting the characters to work together would be the key. It could either be unexpectedly good like Mankind and The Rock or be really awkward and flat like Chad Gable and Bobby Roode.

I'd expect it to be more like the latter. Ember's a sweetheart, but I don't think she has the character chops to pull off a team with someone like Bianca. Hell, they haven't even fully figured out what her character is.

I could maybe Mia Yim working better as a partner for Ember. Or just keep Ember a singles competitor until someone who really complements her appears.

I would have preferred a mid card female (Intercontinental or US) title just to have an established hierarchy. It's like female wrestlers matters when they decide they do like Natalya can job to someone like Dana Brook clean then we're supposed to take her a threat and Tamina can be a threat her whole career while mostly jobbing and having never won a belt.
