Not saying that this is exactly the case here, but I love how we instantly disbelieve a journalist (or the closest thing to one in pro wrestling circles), but IMMEDIATELY believe a guy whose ex-profession might as well be called "PROFESSIONAL LIAR."

We do that we every report. Regardless of who is giving the news (Meltzer, Johnson, a writer or a wrestler), we tend to believe the rumors we want to believe. As you said, wrestling is filled with people who lie to get what they want so it's impossible to know with 100% certainty if what we are hearing/reading is true.
Last week this whole forum was calling bullshyt on the Bryan/HHH altercation but had no problem believing Heyman and Dirty Dutch wrote last week's episode of RAW.
Wrestler saying dirtsheets are wrong is no different. Depending on who is talking and what they are saying, we are gonna believe them or not
