At the time it came out I saw it on the Big Screen. I thought it was decent but I always thought it was corny that Eminem tried to not pass it off as a Bio-Pic when that's exactly what it was. He was playing himself. Jimmy was Eminem so his performance I didn't care for cause how hard is it to play yourself. With that said it was his 1st movie and he did pretty good. But I thought Eminem told a good story about how he came up in Hip Hop, how it was hard for him being a White rapper. Obviously that story never was told in Hip Hop so "8 Mile" did serve it's purpose. The Soundtrack was really good to. The 2nd Soundtrack had all those Classic songs from the 90's. Also the last battle was dope with that Onyx joint playing. Winning the Oscar though? but you can't front on "Lose Yourself" it is a Classic song. But it was a good cast and Curtis Hanson was a good director. Overall it will be a Hip Hop Classic movie but again Em need to stop fronting, it was a Bio-pic disguised as a loosely based Bio-pic. But this was the last time I liked Eminem. 98-02 was Eminem to me. Everything after was weak to average. But "8 mile Road" was very deep and I liked it better than "Lose Yourself":

It's easy to be yourself yet some people even struggle to do that without cameras stuck in their faces.

But acting like yourself and doing a good enough job so that you're not coming off like you're acting in front of cameras with little to no experience is a different story.

I do agree with you on the 8 Mile Road song tho. It's probably my favorite Eminem song.

Who the fcuk is Kesha's guilty pleasure ?

Who does VIBE speak for, i cant stand that fcking magazine.

thats what im trying to figure out. its like dam, most "black" magazines arent even geared towards black people nowadays.

a 10 year anniversary special for 8 MILE? really? when 8 mile dropped, we were much more interested in barbershop, paid in full & drumline. 8 mile wasnt even "friday after next" status.

and hip-hop doesnt even know who ke$ha is. so how is she our guilty pleasure?

f**k this magazine and anybody thats felt delighted when they looked at this issue.:pacspit:

:rudy:

ever heard of KRUSH GROOVE?

and that may have been before "purple rain" actually.:win:

Of course I've heard of Krush groove. It's a hip hop movie but its plot doesn't resemble 8 mile at all. Purple rain on the other hand is almost the exact same movie just supplement the performance scenes w rap battles n u got 8 mile lol.

I was 11 when this movie dropped. Cant believe its been ten years since then. Em had the world on fire back then. It was one of the GOAT runs in hiphop history. Aint no denying that shyt. From the Enimem show dropping, to the 8 Mile movie doing crazy numbers...and then him and Dre signing 50. Em was a problem

like homie said, we just used to skip to the battles, then put something else on.

there were like a handful of movies that dropped at that time that were much more important. wheres the 10 year anniversary for PAID IN FULL, barbershop, drumline. hell, even "friday after next"?

black media isnt even geared towards black folks anymore. this cant be life.

Ill never forget being one of the only people in a full movie theatre that knew every word to "shook ones"

which goes to show that this movie was moreso a big deal outside of the urban community than it was within it.
