Even if they weren't approved, then it's still their idea as it was crafted under the terms of the business agreement. Now what they choose to do with those ideas is a completely different discussion which potentially opens them to a PR hit.
Never argued the business aspect of the deal, but if they ditched the project then pushed out shoes, they look sheisty as fukk, and it isn't a good look for Nike.

It more than likely was a sample shoe that managed to leave the warehouse. Sample shoes get made all the time and somehow manage to end up in the hands of people. You can look on GOAT and Stock X and see sample sneakers for sell all of the time for shoes that never got released. This sneaker isn't new or an exception to that deal. I'm positive that shoe isn't the only Kobe sample that was created or floating around here.

With that being said, I'm starting to believe that she had no clue and was never involved with any of his business dealings. She's taking a lot of business dealings publicly on social media instead of handling it through lawyers and behind the scenes.

I'm sure Nike is legally cleared to sell this shoe, they got world class attorneys working at the company. I don't think they are that dumb, I'm sure Nike owns the IP on all Kobe's shoes and can do whatever they want with them. My question is why was Vanessa showing designs to Nike if she was renegotiating a new deal? That's pretty dumb on Vanessa part. I do think think she taking the Nike issue way to personal and not acting according. In her post she was asking why the shoes were being sold, why doesn't she first get the correct information before reacting to a picture?

Because she has no clue what's going on and the people in a circle are doing a terrible job guiding her. You would think that that there are people in the Lakers organization or somebody that loved Kobe and wants to do right by him in helping her with business dealings.

She's literally operating out here as if she's on her own.

Nike shoes are produced in factories 6 to 9 months in advance. These shoes have already been mass produced. Nike also has a window after the contract ended to finish up selling whatever Kobe products they have already produced.

Terrible PR move by Nike. They fukked up IMO by not sending her the finished products, they don't have to answer to her tho.

They don't but it is about PR war, she won't win in court but she can definitely stop them through PR. Would be a horrible look for Nike to go through with these without her permission, a shoe that involves her daughter. It does not make sense for them to fight this. I am sad it got this ugly because I had hope the two sides would agree to a deal later on

sneakerheads don’t give a fukk. They will still happily give 900 and their left but for those shoes

So she does own the trademarks.

Inside V. Bryant's dispute with Nike over shoe release

They got mistakenly dropped to a UK retailer who raffled a different color way, but sent these by mistake.

She can own the trademark, but it was already granted their permission to use when they went into production so there's nothing there. The only thing that'll happen is they'll take the logo off, and change the name on any future releases. They won't even be called Mambacita's being that they already have an official name.

And this didn't even gain enough traction for the PR to take a hit. Hell, Kawhi's beef had more buzz.

The trademark is not worth much, what she needs to own is the intellectual property (shoe design). She won't get any where with just having a trademark. I don't think Nike called the shoe the Mambacita anyway, so she doesn't have much to go with outside the PR push.

Not really. IIRC similiar situation with the Freddy SBs, and Nike ordered those to be oiled and burned. Pairs will always make it out the backdoor tho. Sneaker fiends gonna fiend and $$ talks.
