i remember that thread last year when people were saying he wasn’t popular enough to do it. Somewhere along the lines people forgot how huge Usher was. Also him killing it every night at his Vegas residency brought him back.

Usher is one of the biggest solo acts ever. Dude got some huge songs. He was racking up number 1s and moving units in his prime. Not sure why its not as apparent with him as it is with other artists. Even I, as a fan, was surprised to see where he ranked on the all time Billboard list. He got bops and puts on a show...that translates across everything.

Rap overtook R&B years ago. Rap is more mainstream than R&B ever was. Nobody has ever been as big as Snoop, Dre, 50, or Em doing straight R&B. The biggest R&B acts all crossed over.
