He was building up Houston so well. I was disappointed to see him jump ship.

Maybe he's not as good as many thought.
But Texas seems like such a shytty coaching job. The politics surrounding that program are just terrible.

Why would he do that? Texas just needs to realize they’re not an elite program anymore. Like they have money and clout because of their past but they have to stop pretending they’re a compete for a title or bust team. Just like Michigan. It puts unnecessary pressure on a coach. Wouldn’t there be more pressure coaching for an “elite” program? If Texas is no longer elite anymore, than what’s the problem? He’ll be entering a situation in which he wouldn’t have to win a title or even make the playoffs in year one. Urban will just have to do better than previous coaches. Urban can still attract players and so can Texas.

The pressure longhorns fans put on these coaches isn’t any different than any other major program. Coaches get fired from programs everyday. Urban has what it takes to keep Texas recruits in Texas and to take recruits from other states.

I think only a top tier coach could get and keep Texas right. I think Herman is good...prob better than most. just not on that level
