This dude posted a picture of himself strapped and ready for war AND went to the Capitol, knowing what that would entail. What, was she just sleepwalking throughout the entire marriage and thought all those guns were Air-Soft or Nerf? Nah, misguided or not, he clearly had the intent to do harm, and she agreed with it. How the fukk are you the wife and know your husband is out here buying multiple weapons, using the internet to threaten people's lives, is
clearly very invested in Trump to the point of delusion, and you don't check him for none of that shyt?
Do you remember that moment where John McCain had to correct people about Obama being a Muslim? That was back in 2008. Old people were saying this too, the same types you'd see at a Trump rally. Misinformation has floated around for a very long time, and social media made it easier once it became a lot more frequent and easier for the every-day person to use. So I agree, it's been too late for a very long time now. These people never wanted the truth, they just want their ignorance and biases to validated.
Now, there
are some people during 2016-2020 that were fed misinformation and "didn't know any better", but even then I can't overlook that, because you always should make it a habit to verify information through your own research. Many of them feel no need to do so and have complete and utter faith in these people that are feeding them nonsense. This is where Twitter, Facebook and other social media platforms should've come in and rectified ALL of that -- sort of like what they're doing now -- but they sat on their hands all this time until Trump's term was near its end.
Take COVID-19 for example. Some people didn't want to wear a mask because Trump called it a hoax. Most of them could've taken themselves to Google and spend an afternoon researching all the information that was available at the time in order to be informed, but they didn't. What did they do instead? They just listened to him, no questions asked. The result: nearly 400,000 people in America have lost their lives due to the virus. In the end, people will remain as ignorant as they want if it benefits their worldviews and beliefs. And that's why critical thinking is a very important skill to have.
