PEOPLE love the IDEA of superman....He the biggest superhero because of who he is and power set. If shyt were to ACTUALLY GO down. People want to be saved by him

The trust in superman as a brand was damaged so long ago.
That it is difficult to rebolster it because dc has lowered the quality on supes for more than fifty plus years.
On top of the fact he is the premier gateway children's character of all time.
Where he lacks a bridge to be relevant to his gateway audience past a certain demographic.
As dc has whored out batman and supes for close to fiddy years or more.
So, what happened with batman having two feathers in his cap via vertigo style writing before it was deemed as being synonymous with vertigo is the dark knight miller year one series, and the killing joke.
Plus a possible long term feather in their cap to rebolster the franchise with the movie telling story of the death of Tim drake.
If they can make it that far as a draw to have it adapted.
As dc, is wb's gateway company they whore out.
So, dc is stuck in the predicament.
of being the gateway wing for wb via supes and also the transisitional wing with batman in evolution of content and draw.
When they destroyed the actual draw and convincability of superman and replaced it with batman as the global gateway with the explosion of the Nicholson effect in the Tim Burton series that trickled down to the batman tas for people of this Gen.
Even with supes tas following and being a jla animated series mainstay accredited draw.
Supes, never recovered as the dc global gateway character or draw and batman/bruce took over.

The problem wb/dc has is they do not understand.

Honestly, there are not many superhero out there where most people can name 5 of there villains

The reality is that the only heroes that people truly know the most about are Batman, Spider-man, and possibly X-men (maybe).
So with that said, Superman's problem is and will always be creators not knowing what to do with him.
