Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
It's not about shutting down a conversation. It's about the widespread practice of never contributing to the church but expecting the church to always come to your rescue.

Tithes are not just used to pay the church mortgage, utilities or pastor's wage. It is used for back to school packs, free groceries for the poor, free breakfast for kids, missionary trips, etc etc on a weekly, sometimes daily basis. But most atheists wouldn't know that b/c they are critiquing from the sidelines with absolutely no insight.

And for the record, Christianity is not synonymous with "a dumb fool I can use."
everybody knows that... the problem is, MOST churches ain't ONLY using it for that.

so when you pull up to a church where the pastor pulling up in the latest 2018 luxury car... church old as dirt.. and you know good and damn well, they ain't doing half the shyt you just wrote... yea... people get a little pissed off

SOME pastors out here making millions, but talking bout help the poor... but you a millionaire, but you ain't helping the poor. some churches collect from tens of thousands of people weekly, sell dvds, sell clothing, sell toys, sell vacation packages, etc.... and when a member gets sick or needs help with the rent... they ain't got that but they'll pray for you

i'm a christian.. i am 150% sure, jesus would not approve of what pastor osteen just did nor said

you can put a lot on the upper decks..etc
This is true but if fights break out or someone gets hurt because they have no food or water you can be held accountable. Due to the lawsuit happy nature. I would close my church down to.

Yeah i think Mr Osteen is trying to save face after being called out on white twitter and Facebook.

He's in the church business for the money. Him and his wife.

He needs to stay true to that. Don't pretend you care. People know what it is and how he is so stop forcing him to be something he's never claimed to be. People bought the hype now they deal with it.

I can see being worried about security for sure. It would concern me. If I couldn't assemble professional security to be on watch, in a place that size, I'd be leery myself. Maybe he could make an open call for trained, credentialed security to come help and work out logistics. A huge undertaking to house hundreds, possibly thousands of people.

Nah breh!

My wife is from Louisiana, born and raised. She had family in NO. Those stories were real.

"I know someone from New Orleans" - random person online. That's exactly how this shyt spread. I guess you're gonna tell me how Lil kim got her stomach pumped too.

Even today, questions remain about various incidents, and why the unconfirmed horror stories were treated as fact and gained such wide currency. It is clear, however, that the media was only the last link — if the most influential one — in a chain reaction that led the world to believe gang rape, rampant shootings and infanticide were fast compounding the city’s devastation. Many of the overblown reports trace back through poorly informed public officials, to overworked police officers and national guardsmen, to frightened evacuees themselves. The flooded city of New Orleans, experts say, was hit with a perfect storm of conditions in which fear, despair and wild rumors, like a contagious disease, can thrive. Latent racism, some suggest, further distorted the picture of devastation and chaos presented around the world
.

Lt. Col. Edwards says he conducted a review around Sept. 16, interviewing every member of the Guard who was on patrol Sept. 5. Brooks and the other guardsmen claimed that they never told anyone they had actually seen bodies in the freezer, but rather that they’d heard other emergency personnel talking about it in a food line set up for police, guardsmen and other rescue workers outside Harrah’s New Orleans Casino. Edwards invited Thevenot to talk with the guardsmen again, and on Sept. 26, the Times-Picayune published a follow-up report, co-written by Thevenot. It clarified that the paper’s initial report about events at the convention center — picked up by media worldwide — had been wrong, as had been other accounts of unchecked mob violence around the city.
