:why:

I aint talkin attitude era status. I'm talking legend status period. Im talking top tier from here on out.

What does that even mean?

And if "nothing will elevate anyoe to attitude era status in the modern wwe" then why have a mid carder like sandow beat him to create a "new stone cold" one the icons of the AE era.

It won't be a new Stone Cold, but it'll at least be beneficial to someone, as opposed to like...no one at all.

If Punk walks into WM, with the championship that means he would have a victory over the rock, which no one on the current roster can say (excusing the legends) and if he beat Taker's streak, he can can truly say he is the best ever. Championship streak plus beating taker's streak plus beating the rock=legend. How does this not compute? :deadmanny:

...okay, but what does him saying "I'm the best ever" actually fukking MEAN?

Does it give him a boost in pop culture relevance? No.

Does it elevate him on the card? No.

Does it make him more of a draw? No.

So it means absolutely nothing. It's just another notch in the kayfabe belt. You're acting like "legend status" is some objective honor that will accomplish anything for his career -- a visible tier that makes one more popular or more effective in any way just because he enters it. Legend status in wrestling is conferred by either raw popularity or workrate, not narrative quality of wins. :pachaha:

The Rock is a legend because of his charisma, not because he beat Hogan at Mania.

1. Yes

2. No, He is at the top card. Somewhat. Cena was still closing out shows.

3. Yes.

Yes, I am taking kayfabe status/storyline status, whatever. A Punk win can be way more beneficial money wise and upcoming matches wise than having Damein Sandow beat him. Sandow, who has no steam behind him, no credability behind him to be in a match with Taker and beat him. You want Sandow to beat him because it would "elevate" him to the main event when in kayfabe it wouldn't make any sense because he hasn't been built up or shown he can beat anyone on the level of Taker. Its unbelievable continuity wise and a complete waste of taker's streak.

So build him, then. I don't give a shyt when it happens.

But as of right now, Ziggler or Sandow are the only people who would have anything to gain from beating the Undertaker, whether it's this year or next year.

Punk won't become the Undertaker by beating the Undertaker. He had a window to attain true GOAT status during the summer of Punk, when every major sports outlet and talk show wanted him, but they killed that heat and now he's just a really over heel champ. He doesn't gain anything from the win besides another way to say, "...and this is on my resume too." There's no way to enter the Hogan/Stone Cold circle in the current wrestling environment, with the current booking. There just isn't. Having a "valued' win over a guy who hasn't lost in a long time won't change that. Only a change in booking/promotional direction can.

Agreed. They have to change the way they book the company. And since they havent BOOKED ziggler or sandow to be credible enough to face Taker RIGHT NOW. There is no need to put them in a match against him let alone BEAT him.

Right now, Punk has more to gain then Sandow or Ziggler because he can use that moniker more succesfully than Sandow or Ziggler.

You'd have Sandow beat Taker at WM this year [Tsu Surf]And Then What?[/Surf] He goes right back down to the mid card into a tag team with cody rhodes getting beat by Team Hell No, becoming brouge kick fodder for Sheamus, etc. The man that beats Taker IMO should be a sure fire maineventer that is ready to headline ppvs not open the card or be on youtube shows.

IMO if its gonna be Punk vs Taker, then Punk has to still be on his championship streak

But since Taker is only around WM season, would WWE give him the strap?

Let him win the wwe title at WM

retire on Raw next night ala Ric Flair 2008

Have a King of the Ring tournament for new WWE Champion
