Your not wrong... But these views for artist like action bronson and death grips are a far cry than some other "pop" rap artist that buzz is really not created on the internet, which is my argument. Action bronson has 0 videos that go over 3 million views... Death grips has 0 videos that go over 2 million views.... Meanwhile sage the gemini has 22 million views for one video, a pop rapper from the bay who is independent for a fact... There hasn't been a obvious industry plan since A$AP Rocky (two years ago), and thats because the game has changed.... The model has already changed, either you swim and blow up, or you... after your initial push, stay regulated to the underground

Sage the Gemini has two videos with 22-24 million views. They were added March-June of this year. A couple months later he signed to Republic Records, which is owned by Universal. That shyt don't seem odd to you?

Nobody who is really independent has 24 million views with no outside help. This is the type of shyt Google was investigating.

don't know if it's been said yet, but Action Bronson is signed to Atlantic and it's been no secret. They don't try to hide it.

no, Sage's views were actually legit. he actually got the deal because of that.

they were local songs, but turned into dances out here and took off. both those songs (especially gas pedal) are old as shyt. gas pedal especially has been a party/club staple out here for damn near 2 years bruh

not saying this doesn't happen because it does, but Sages come up is legit. bruh was workin at Pac Sun before his songs caught up, started rolling with HBK Gang. Now he's signed.

You might be right man.... I mean it was obvious back in 2010 that wiz was signed during his "independent" buzz and a few other artist that have been out since..... All I'm saying is that it was already understood that anybody that has a national profile had industry backing.... Thats "their shot" then... If they aren't deemed popular or pose no future profits for these corporate juggernauts, they stay in the underground selling out 2,500 people venues and having a cult base.... If they put up big numbers, they spring themselves towards big sales

:what:

I don't know why he threw death grips out there. Everybody has known what label they were signed to at every step...and they've never tried to act like they weren't.

There's nothing planted about Sage the Gemini. He's a product of the new social media sensation "vine" blowing up. In a way that YG song "my nikka" blew up b/c of Vine as well. Literally every "twerk" Vine you watch got a Sage the Gemini song playing. Y'all don't remeber when Billboard first added social media/youtube views into their criteria for their charts? A bunch of old ass party songs started randomly charting, Kanye West "Gone" charted when that chick put the song in her video of her quitting her song.

At the end of the day it doesnt matter if a artist is connected or not. Its up to the people to decide who they fukk with. I can throw you two "up and coming" NY artists who are connected to the industry, yet nobody gives a fukk about(for now, you will prolly hop on they dikks later).

Just because you are plugged up, doesnt mean the people are gonna fukk with you or that you can amass a following. Labels dont have some magic mind control switch that turns people into fans. Wheter you are indie or you are with a major, its still on the artists to go out there and put in work. With the internet there aint no such thing as "undergound" no more. All nikkas music gets exposed and shared thru the same medium. IMO only people that complain bout "industry plants" are frustrated struggle rappers mad cuz they shyt aint poppin :manny:

Ive heard the nikka was signed even during So Far Gone. Watch the Lil Wayne Documentary by QD3. You see a quick shot of Drake and this was prob 2008 right before The Carter 3 came out.
:what:

How you acting like you dropping industry secrets and shyt? :rudy: "I heard he was even signed during So Far Gone" like you exposing something :dahell:

It was a known fact that he signed with Wayne before So Far Gone came out, Drake has said this himself.
