I always heard Will Smith started improving the end of the scene, and using his own experiences when he was talking about not needing his father to teach him how to love his kids, learning to shoot ball without him, etc, and that Uncle Phil really started breaking down, and that the hug was genuine.

Whoa Whoa Whoa Whoa WHOA...Will's father WAS there for him irl, don't know about improving the lines but he didn't pull them from personal experience.

Dude is just a good actor, period.

Where did it come from though? Will Smith's actual dad was in his life.

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
man, you have to realize how stupid of an argument that is, don't you? there's a higher chance that people who agree with the thread topic are going to come in the thread and co-sign it, so by saying you and the other six people that came in agree doesn't really mean shyt. it's like taking a poll somewhere where there's going to be a biased opinion, or phrasing a poll in a certain way, then you use the data collected but you don't even realize it's skewed data. and, considering the fact that the scene isn't complete garbage, people aren't going to come in here in throngs and straight up bash the scene either (i didn't even bash it, i just said it wasn't as good as you're making it out to be).

what i find more disturbing is you'd rather insult me and my opinion instead of giving some sort of convincing argument as to why you feel the scene is really that good. that alone tells me you're working and posting off of pure emotion without much (if any) evidence. there's nothing wrong with emotion but get some evidence behind that otherwise it's pointless bickering...

Son I dead ass don't know one person in real life male or female..father or not..grown or young..who wasn't touched by that scene...that should say somethin...and if u think he was too grown to have emotions about his absentee father coming in and out of his life and that feeling of neglect than u either haven't lived enough or are incapable of feeling empathy..

this was the most powerful scene in the whole series

the one where carlton took the pills from his locker is a close second
