I guess James Avery is comfortable living off of those residuals from Fresh Prince and Ninja Turtles. Wish he'd do something new on the small screen. I mean, if Ed O'Neill can get back into the spotlight, why not?

remember when Seinfeld went syndicated and they were saying the contract was like 200 million a year or some outrageous shyt, and i think that was just for 1 network.

Fresh prince is on tons of networks all the time. Those people are probably eating so good off that. Will is a big movie star now but he prob still sees his french prince checks and is like :ehh: not bad at all.

Even if you can't relate to the situation the scene and the acting were on point. My biological father wasn't hardly around but I grew up with a Stepfather who treated me like his own. Having not been in that type situation it still gets to me cause it's so powerful a scene.

I grew up with a father, and despite me and him not seeing eye to eye, that shyt hit too fukking hard. Like, I forgive him on all the mishaps he done when I saw that scene. That was the pinnacle of 90s TV touching on real issues.

i disagree, and, more importantly, i'm entitled to my feelings. most of you are suffering from nostalgia and/or the ability to relate. which it's cool you can relate and all, but that doesn't mean that he was convincing. especially if someone who can't relate but has seen enough fatherless kids still isn't convinced by the performance...

Yea I just think you just can't relate. Never met my dad he wanted an abortion but I could imagine if i started hanging out with him for a week or so especially when I was in my late teens early twenties and I really felt like I was making a connection with him and he left without notice it would be painful. Most people growing up without fathers no matter what age are self conscious about the fact they never had that huge portion of their life. There's a missing part so to think you gained that and for it to be ripped away from you again I can only imagine how painfull that would be.

After that episode aired, my real father who I hadn't heard from in years called my house.

I took the phone from my mother and with a lump in my throat said "hi....dad."

He replied :umad: and hung up.

:wow:

:laff: :laff: :laff: i love this place man. i really do.

That scene makes me tear up every time I watch it.

Funny, cuz around that time, I remember asking my own father the same thing on the phone, I just broke the fukk down...and he had no answer...I was done with him on an emotional level after that...and from that day vowed that NO MATTER WHAT, I'd be there for my children.

This scene, the scene with Carlton and the gun, and the scene where Will confessed to having the speed that almost killed Carlton are the best scenes out of the series...real shyt...the kind of rough shyt every family goes through. I want the entire Fresh Prince series on DVD to show to my kids when they hit around 8 years old...every black kid should watch this show in its entirety. Too many messages that they need to hear/see.

One of my favorite episodes. It would have been better if the first Aunt Viv was still there. She would have tore Will's dad a new one.
