“You have to start on day one,” he said. “You can’t skip steps, and, if you do skip steps, the game will tell you. You’ll be humbled very quickly. So — at the end of the day — there’s a lot of good teams, there’s a lot of good players, and it’s about who plays the best. We did a lot of good things last year but that doesn’t mean it’s going to happen again. You have to make it happen again, and that starts when we all get back together in training camp.”

“Korver is drawing at least some interest, apparently from the Toronto Raptors, Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers. All are Eastern Conference contenders, and Korver would be a major boost off the bench for a team looking to reach the Finals.”

Makes sense :ehh:

Baynes back. Smart back. Larkin gone. Kadeem Allen gone. Kyrie, Hayward and Theis are coming back from injury.

Now we just gotta take care of Jabari and we'll be ready to take it this season.

Championship or bust for the Cs.

Is Bird gonna play a combo guard or primarily the 2? Or maybe even the 3 on some occasions?

He's a hybrid player but he'll probably be at 2 and 3 for the most part. Minutes might be difficult for him but we need him for depth and he's made strides in his game. Good problem to have though.

Now it's time for the ownership to prove it's commitment to winning by paying the luxury tax. A lot of fans are saying we are gonna let guys go to stay under the cap. fukk that, the whole band is getting back together. If the ownership is unwilling to pay the tax they might as well sell the team to some middle eastern sheiks. Fans talk about the luxury tax as if they were paying the player salaries themselves. :mjlol: Sign Bird and give Nader the boot, and we're good to go.

Nader's deal was partially guaranteed at $450k. Purvis, meanwhile, was fully non-guaranteed, and waiving him brought Boston a little closer to the luxury tax line. The Celtics will be motivated to get below the line if possible this offseason, since it would push their clock back on the costly repeater tax which is almost certainly coming, if they keep their talented core together.

Purvis, who played limited minutes for the Orlando Magic last season, had little chance of making the Celtics' guaranteed roster, which was filled last week when Boston inked Summer League phenom Jabari Bird to a two-year deal. Roster spots on the 2018-19 Celtics squad -- even roster spots toward the end of the bench -- will not come easily.
