GERMANTOWN, Md. (WUSA9) -- The woman who was fatally shot in the parking lot of a Germantown Target had recently ended a relationship with the man charged with her murder.
Mariam Folashade Adebayo, age 24, went by Shade, according to her family. Adebayo was a University of Maryland alumni with a degree in public health. She graduated in 2013. Adebayo attended Seneca Valley High School in Germantown and graduated from there in 2009, according to family.
Adebayo had just started a new job in Columbia, Maryland.
Adebayo was meeting her ex-boyfriend Donald Bricker, age 27, to talk, according to police. Abedayo had agreed to meet after Bricker threatened to harm himself over their breakup, sources tell WUSA9. Though Adebayo ended their relationship after 6 months Bricker "wouldn't take no for an answer," family said.

Adebayo and Bricker were fighting in a car in the parking lot when she got out to get away from Bricker, witnesses told police. Bricker then got out of the car holding a gun, police said. Bricker fired at Adebayo and she fell to the ground, police said. He then shot at her a second time, police said.
Officers arriving at the scene found Adebayo suffering from a gunshot wound, police said. She was transported to the hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
Bricker fled the scene and was ultimately arrested after crashing his vehicle. He is being charged with first degree murder, police said. Bricker has a criminal history in Maryland and is on the state's sex offender registry, WUSA9's Andrea McCarren reported. As of Wednesday Bricker remains in the hospital, Montgomery County police said.
A vigil for Adebayo is being held at Seneca Valley High School at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. A GoFundMe page for Adebayo's Memorial Fund has been set up. You can find the page here: http://bit.ly/1dKbSBF
