Apples and Oranges. How many of these licensed professionals chose to dedicate their expertise to the empowerment of Black folks? How many are willing to publicly criticize white folks while having career ambitions in the institutions you referenced?
Actually, a lot of them.

Theres a lot of reputable black clinical psychiatrists. Several of them who have been controversial over the years.

Francis Cress Welsing had an M.D. for instance.

This is still BS.
Having an MD but not being able to use it is pointless. Its just assumed you would follow through with credentials and licensure.
I was the FIRST person on here YEARS ago to said he had a PhD. Look it up. I literally had to convince people of this. His dissertation is out there.
Pointless? nikka I ain't asking for your opinion about career plans, I'm telling you facts about the term "Doctor" and how it's applied universally, not just in the medical field
It don't matter what you did first, you could've been the first person to post a Umar video or recite a quote from him, but you are here now moving like a snake to undermine a Blackman that you don't like, but know he has the qualifications and knowledge of what he speaks..so attack his scholarship to prove he ain't worth shyt

stop it. Dr. Welsing released the ISIS papers after her career in the medical field. She wasn't having career ambitions in these institutions and publicly talking the real about these white folks

I will repeat Tariq is looking mad pathetic in his attack of Umar and is only hurting his brand. Listening to him you would think he was a battle rapper talking about getting at him. I guarantee you Tariq would have gained new fans if he simply hit Umar with a “I will pray for you and hope you get better brotha, hopefully 2018 is a better year for you than 2017 was peace and love”. Then if Umar still came at him Umar would have looked mad crazy and pathetic. It’s like Tariq doesn’t know how to rain it in.

Umar is most certainly a fraudulent character. He’s done nothing but read and repackage Dr. Amos Wilson’s books and lectures from the 80s and 90s.

To those who’ve never been exposed to Wilson’s works, what Umar is saying in his lectures is some groundbreaking shyt. nikkas out here like :ohhh: when Umar is talking about Special Education! If nikkas were truly “woke”, they’d know that what he’s saying is essentially parroted Wilson writings and lectures, while putting a charismatic spin on it.

But, because most “woke” nikkas are only superficially woke, they haven’t put in the work and lack the depth to know the works of real Black scholars. If you’re “woke” and haven’t read Wilson, you’re probably a fraud, too!

Tariq Nasheed also repackages content for the superficially “woke” crowd, convincing you lame nikkas to spend money on shyt that is already publicly available if you’re simply willing to do some reading! But, nikkas don’t want to do any reading and what to be “edutained”.

Instead of paying $20 for some cursory look at the Haitian Revolution, you could have easily watched the thorough ass, free PBS documentary on the subject and others out there:

Not to mention the great books written by noted Black scholars such as The Black Jacobins.

I’m not knocking Tariq Nasheed’s hustle. He knows how to extract money out of you nikkas.

I see Umar and Tariq in the same light. They are both hustlers, parroting information for a profit.

One of them just happens to be more polished and less fraudulent than the other!

If you’re into “edutainment” and fukkery, they both will tickle your fancy.

If you are really about learning and growing as a Black man and as an asset to our community, spending a lot of time, money and energy on those two is not the answer.

That’s my $0.02.

Yet the money hasn't been used and hss been frozen. That's what i read. Pretty sure refunds will be issued.
Looking forward to how his surrogate some will spin this. Even if he didn't steal the money it's clear he has no idea what he's doing. Being a good self promoter/fundraiser and actually making things happen are two totally different things

Depends on the degree its being applied to.

A license is generally signifying that you're an expert and in his field, that would mean being able to give prescriptions or designate therapies and maintain patients.

A certificate is like he took a course over a week or two and he is qualified to do a smaller and narrower number of things.

Its like asking whats the difference between a nurse and a doctor.
He got his degree. It just seems like he hasn't passed the board exam or even took it. This Pharroh nikka is trash. I can't believe Someone said he had facts. Umar would destroy this clown.

Well (and this is my opinion only...and it's not based in "hate rhetoric" for the man...It's only from what I've seen)

#1 he handles criticism poorly - If you are going to be an educator and claim to want to change the minds of these young impressionable black boys and girls, you need to be able to stand up to criticism. The first mention of criticism he resorts to name calling (calling people BROKE for not donating to his school without a plan, calling them "c00ns" for disagreeing with him or bringing up his questionable behavior with strippers etc.)

#2 he is incredibly self centered/arrogant - He calls him self "The Prince" , has made up a very "loose" ancestry association with Frederick Douglass (the true ancestors of Frederick Douglass have denied he has any blood tie to them). He has a "toy/action figure" of himself :dead: You can't be a positive educator (IMO) if you are more into yourself and your image than you are education. Education is dirty...not in a literal sense. Good educators give up their sense of self to help others, they don't care about "reputation", they care about helping others. His arrogance seems to lean toward protecting his image. In a case where he has to choose between these children he wants to educate and "saving face" his behavior indicates he would probably choose saving face.

#3 No executive board - Any school (especially specialized charter schools) should have an executive board of qualified educators. Any person who thinks they can undertake this type of venture (and should be blindly trust with millions of dollars) should probably have a team of Doctors and Educators at the ready. Even this "early" in the process, this is NOT a one man undertaking. If I wanted to start a school, I would start by getting educators on my side, on the board, etc. so that my plan was legitimate. Even if I believe his education (which is murky at best, fraudulent at worst), his specific education doesn't qualify him to run ALL things in a school. He would need an accountant/financial planner to handle the finances, a curriculum designer, someone to run the housing aspect, someone to run the nutrition aspect, someone to monitor state regulations in regards to educational requirements by grade, someone to monitor the facilities and making sure everything is up to code... etc. etc. The fact that he has no executive board is telling.

#4 His website... Dr. Umar Johnson, The Prince of Pan-Africanism Just visit this. It doesn't scream professional. I know not everyone is a web designer, but in 2017 you can have a much more professional website for less than $1000. This website looks like it was made by a high school senior in 2002. It's REALLY bad. I wouldn't trust that the man who has his name tied to this website in 2017 and still keeps it running would be capable of hiring the right people to run a boarding school/ academy where kids live.

#5 He is too secretive. This is the most damning one to me. If I was planning to fund a school, everything would be in the open to those who NEEDED to see it. The whole "it's none of your business" trope is a really bad statement when you want to run a school. Education is about transparency. Honestly (in the scheme of what he wants to do) he could get 3-5 million from Oprah or someone else IF he had the right plan, the right committee, the right background. The issue is that he keeps everything hidden, he isn't direct, and that comes off (not saying it is) as shady. I have my MBA. It's a fact 100%. If someone asked me to see it I wouldn't make them jump through hurdles. I wouldn't dodge the questions and try to turn things back around on them. I'm proud of the achievement, I would show them. For him, whenever the question has been brought up, he hesitates to show irrefutable proof. I wouldn't want that person running a school where I would send my child.

Again, NONE of that was me saying "oh he's a clown" without some type of tangible proof from what I have seen from him on multiple interviews. He is incredibly intelligent and a good speaker when he gets to control the narrative. He resorts to childlike behavior when he is pressed. I don't think he is a terrible man OR a criminal. But not every "decent man who is not a criminal" deserves millions of dollars to run a school.
The more you think about it. It sounds like the Nigerian with Mollywatr
