Funny how whomever paid 4 Billy for UFC took ownership of a sport rampant with PED use.

I spoke with a boxing insider, he's on Danny Jacobs team. He said PEDs are very prevalent in boxing. He said it was worse 4 years ago, but it's still ugly.

PEDs are pretty common in most major sports. But, it does seem like it's much worse in MMA. I think part of that is due to the very strict drug testing.

Don't forget the infamous "Evan Fields" fiasco with Evander Holyfield :dead: .

Almost all elite athletes in any given sport use PEDs. It seems worse in MMA because their testing is actually legit, so guys pop left and right (USADA). NFL, NBA etc. would NEVER go anywhere near an organization like that.

Good post.

Why don't reporters/media/fans ask why these major sports leagues don't have legitimate drug testing.

Boxing has been using USADA for years & years. They also use VADA as well which is even harder to cheat & not get caught than USADA is

VADA and USADA both use the WADA guideline and WADA accredited labs, so it shouldn't be 'harder to cheat' with one or the other. But I have read that VADA has caught a bit more people than USADA.

Boxing occasionally uses Olympic style drug testing and the testing is done generally in competition. The UFC does year round Olympic style drug testing in and out of competition. If you fight for the UFC, you will be tested year round by USADA. While in boxing, fighters are tested only when they both agree to use Olympics style drug testing. Big difference. When boxers sign with USADA/VADA to do drug testing, they know the time frame they will be tested in. In MMA, the time frame is anytime (and anywhere).

The UFC has easily the stricter drug testing system.

I believe when Floyd was doing Olympics style drug testing, he would sign a contract and choose the time frame he will be tested in. In a way, that's not really random testing.

Yes, they are both accredited by WADA and use the WADA guideline, but VADA tests for more things than USADA does and have a stricter testing protocol.

UFC does USADA testing, but it just started last year....also, who has the USADA caught in the UFC out of competition? Everyone they caught, as far as I'm aware, was during drug testing for an upcoming bout (or immediately after a fight)?
