Who said he was? Fact is the fight was more about what's wrong with Hendricks than what's right with Thompson. Apart from the initial TD att he never went back to his wrestling and just followed wonderboy's lead. Which begs the question did the change of camp and new diet have an effect because he had no explosion or power whatsoever

my bad I meant the 1st real comp he was faced against in Matt Brown he got wrecked, point bein Thompson ain't some dynamic unknown with untapped potential, we know his limitations

That fight was nearly 4 years ago, and was his 2nd fight in the UFC.

Plus Matt Brown is a tough dude.

Who has he faced since though? cote and ellenberger especially are headed downwards

Can only beat what is in front of him though, and he did just finished the former champ inside a round.

I do agree about Hendricks however, he seems to have bought into his own hype in regards to his striking, something we see happen to a lot of fighters. Similar thing happened with Koscheck if i remember rightly. He KO'd someone with an overhand punch, and after that, kept going for it over and over, without setting it up.

Matt Brown ain't better than Johnny....I wouldn't mind WB and Matt running that back, though....Matt gets destroyed in the rematch, imho. Yall just underestimate WB's improvements.
Yes. Get it done Dana :blessed:

WW is so deep it don't matter who he fight next long as it aint maia. Rory, Woodley, Nick Diaz :jawalrus:, Condit, Thatch....tons of matchups

It was his 7th MMA fight and was just over 2 years after his pro debut. Brown exposed his lack of wrestling and grappling and dominated there but Thompson beat his ass standing. He looks to have improved that area of his game but I still think that's where he can be beat. He'd wreck Brown in a rematch though.

Cote won 3 straight since that fight and has looked very good doing so :comeon:

There's a few guys who could beat Thompson (Maia, MacDonald and Condit if they fight smart) but he's not losing to anyone in the striking.
