I dont keep up on UFC why does one division have a champ and an interim champ. And since there is why aren't they fighting each other?

I believe the belt became vacant once Ngannou left the organization and Tom Aspinall fought for the interim title, while Jon beat Ciryl Gane for the actual title.

It won't be unified by Jon because he already says he will likely vacate the belt after this fight. He is scared to fight Aspinall imo.

I could see this going similar to Dominick Reyes or Thiago Silva where Jon gets pushed to the limit by tall strikers. Stipe is a great boxer and Jones isn't. Unless he's gotten old I can see him beating Jones.
