volk was only able to push that pace in the 5th because islam was gassed and a lot slower.
islam power in the first 2-3 rounds was why Volk fought cautious, once Volk seen he was slowing and losing strength he turned it up.
he also realized he needed a knock out to win, so he had no choice.
You have to think islam would do a lot better in a rematch because he knows exactly how to fight Volk now. Volk fought a perfect fight imo, and it still wasn't enough.
I think the size and weight are just too much.
he didn't lose the fight because he was the less skillful man so he should be proud of that and stay at 145 imo.

During the fight, someone said that Islam lacks the chain wrestling that Khabib had. He goes for the body lock or a single/double but can't advance from takedown to takedown in sequence and explosiveness.

It's crazy the difference ten pounds make. Volk was looking kinda flabby but it's probably because he trained his cardio so much. I'd bet he did a ton of grappling for this fight which is how he was able to nullify Islam's wrestling.
Then you look at Islam his shoulders looked huge, so did his biceps. That dude had a crazy physique. But it's problem what made him gas. He thought he was just gonna bully Volk and wasn't ready for that fight. Tbh I don't even know how Islam is getting credit. this was supposed to be Khabib 2.0 instead a smaller weaker man manhandled you and had you with your arms up like you got crucified gasping for air.
