I like aldo but i like max way more. Hes a technician and a brawler in one. Also his weakest point takedown defence and ground game he actually worked on. Rs apurple belt in BJJ and his distance and timing is great. I really dont see anyone at 145 getting the best of him. Hope he defends it for like 4/5 more fights then moves up.I never liked Aldo

And laughed about it. Like these dudes aren’t putting their lives, bodies and brains on the line to accomplish these goals.
That’s why I’m so hard on the throw technique out the window and take turns punching each other in the head fight style that is encouraged by the UFC.
You’re putting your health and life on the line for like 20 stacks, for a promoter who isn’t above basically calling you a bytch in a press conference depending on how he felt when he woke up that morning. I’m happy to see other promotions making noise and hope they keep doing so.

As a casual UFC watcher and never seeing Ortega, the hype he got I thought he was the truth truth. Looked amateurish standing up against Max. Is it because Max is that much better and does Ortega really got the goods?
Max is a damn problem but that's not really the story of the fight.
Ortega is like a lot of the BJJ guys. Once the fight is on the ground, they will put you in a pretzel and choke you out with your own leg or something crazy.... the problem is they are pathetic when it comes to getting you there. A lot of the wrestlers, grapplers, and all-pro athletes make takedowns look easy but in reality its one of the hardest things to do in the sport.
So that's really all it was. Ortega isn't even a 'good' takedown artist. He's just incredibly creative about it. But a one dimensional fighter is still one dimensional. Max not only pieced him up standing, but he stuffed his pathetic takedown attempts, AND managed to get up without any real trouble. It was a complete domination even discounting striking display. This was basically a Ronda Rousey/Holly Holm type of crushing defeat too.
TBH - they definitely gassed Ortega. I can't believe he was the favorite going into this....

Was he the favorite for real? The commentators said that but when I was checking betting lines throughout the day the places I looked gave Max the edge.

Word. I thought it'd be a hard-fought bout but I def wouldn't have had Max as the underdog as long as he made weight with no medical issues.
They kept saying that but the line was dead even almost the entire time, with Ortega’s odds finally moving a measly 5 points before it closed.
I had never seen him before the Edgar fight so I watched his fight with Swanson and he got hit a lot, it was definitely the hype job at work.
