Undefeated champion for how many years (?), regarded as 1 of the best p4p gets slumped (it happens) then not only doesn't get a rematch but doesn't even push for 1.............?????????

Nah, he definitely wanted to fight McGregor again. He said he wasn't going to fight anyone else, until it became clearer that McGregor wasn't going to fight him again and he took the rematch at UFC 200 with Edgar.

Know he got caught, but something STILL too fishy about the Aldo/Mcgregor mauling when you add in the fact that Jose blatantly said there would NEVER be a rematch & the whole belt/weight class fiasco that followed.......before the McRetards swarm on me, this isn't a knock on Connor, just a small theory........

The thing with that is, Aldo is a Diva (nh) when it comes to fighting. He will never, and I mean NEVER take a fight on short notice or when he feels like he has any kind of a disadvantage. That fool can stub his toe and cancel a fight - that's what he's known for. Conor, hate him or love him, is completely the opposite. He never pulls out of fights and wants to fight as often as possible - injuries or not. My point is, Aldo was the real reason for that rematch not happening because while he wants to have a 6 month build up period and pull out 3 times because of a sprained ankle - Conor just wants to fight ASAP. Jose just drags his feet too much. Don't nobody who's making millions a fight want to wait on him.:yeshrug:

Aldo is a great fighter but he got extremely complacent thinking that shyt was sweet in his weight class and Conor exposed that. If it wasn't for Mcgregor, he would have still been getting these once a year 5 round decisions and probably retired as the featherweight GOAT. Him getting stretched in 13 seconds was equivalent to letting off a stream of blood in a shark pool. He completely lost his mystique and no longer has that mental edge over his opponents. It's kind of like what happened to Anderson Silva after Weidman.

I'd actually say that what happened to Aldo is a bit different from what happened to Silva. While yes, the mystique is gone for Silva, he's also just old and he sustained a leg injury that should have ended his career on the spot. The 38-year-old losing to a stronger 29-year-old with the skillset to neutralize him is what should've happened with Silva and Weidman. Add in the injury, and shyt like his ostensibly losing to guys like Derek Brunson isn't suprising.

I think you're right about Aldo, though. Here's a guy who, at 30, should still be in the prime of his fighting life and dominating his division. Instead, he looks human when matched up with top level guys, is abandoning strategies that carried him throughout his early career (where were the leg kicks?), and generally seems like time is starting to pass him by. It's not like he sucks now or anything, but whereas Silva's decline can be attributed to age+injury, Aldo's seems to be a product of him deciding to fight differently at some point post-UFC and everyone realizing that he's just a man after getting embarrassed by McGregor.

I dunno, I just don't think you can really compare the two that easily.

Aldo was wreckin Max the first two rounds. That shot Max caught him with in the third was clean but not that damn clean, Max ain't even a big one shot puncher like that. He took harder shot from Mendes and recovered.

I don't think the problem is the aura, it's a combo of no leg kicks (injury? scared to get injured again?) and his chin not being what it used to be. That second Mendes probably took alot out of him, and the McGregor KO mighta been the nail in the coffin.

I hear you, but I honestly think that Silva at least partially falls in that category as well. He really doesn't look that much worse than he did while he was winning - fighters just aren't scared of him anymore. That punch that Weidman landed on him while he was taunting is really what did it for his mystique. Had he dodged it and proceeded to KO him then I can guarantee you that he would have a few more fights where he looked invincible after that one. A whole lot of the "unbeatable" thing is completely psychological. That's why guys like Nick and Nate Diaz are so dangerous to guys like Conor, GSP, and Silva - they genuinely don't give a fukk and will not be mind fukked by anyone. That's also the reason why Chael Sonnen pretty much already beat Silva before Weidman while coming in as a huge underdog.

Respect to Swanson on the post fight show saying he knows Holloway whooped him, no bitterness/excuses......him & Max or him and Edgar are logical but think Cub needs 1 more dominating win to get @ Max soon.

Those shots don't look like they are "big" bc Max has arms that are longAF like California Condor type birds so it doesn't seem as impactful.....:merchant:.they are.
Agree on the lack of leg kicks, said in in a comment above. :hula:How/why/wtf?????? Is it "Oochie Walley Walley" or is it leg strikes???

Where was Aldo's leg kicks man? I could have sworn he would utilize them more and Holloway was in range. I wonder if he was scared of getting countered. Sucks

The conor shot wasn't that big either tho, Aldo just charged into it like a bum.

True max ain't a big 1 punch guy but he was tagging him that whole round cuz he started getting loose.

It seemed like Aldo was gassing 4 min into the second round too, and the lack of legkicks is so :mindblown:
