Yup they were talking about him being the best boxer in MMA and he could give any actual professional boxer a run. MMA striking is pitiful if he's really the best boxer.

I'm guessing it was GSP because from what I saw tonight I would put money on a top 50 amateur giving him that work. :heh:

Diaz has awesome boxing. But against GSP, that shyt aint gon happen cuz GSP is so dominant with takedowns.

i think he's a really good "puncher" but not a great boxer. he has basically no footwork and not much defense, especially when he's on that taunting shyt.

if he can't get guys to fight his fight (basically backing guys up against the cage and brawl), then he's running into problems.

You gotta think home octagon advantage has some sort of effect, no? Has to give an extra wind for sure.

That being said.. I actually wanted Diaz to win, he has a raw personality and is smarter than people think..... and I'm shocked he came out THAT flat... it's a testament to GSP though.

I'm a casual MMA fan, but from what I've seen, GSP has the best boxing technique in MMA. I base most of that on the fact that he counters effectively, he moves in the ring, and his jab is so great. Most of these guys don't jab at all, and if they do, it's weak.

True. Perfectly phrased. Not a good boxer but a brawler I suppose. Nick like to throw a million punches at you and keep you moving backward. Against a great wrestler there's no chance of doing so.

He's obviously not the best boxer as long as Anderson Silva exists. It's just fight hype.

my nikka RETIRED Diaz lol

As funny as this is, the last year has unfortunately rendered this distinction meaningless.

Condit and the NSAC retired Diaz from MMA in February 2012.

Then the mere threat of Estima crippling Nick for the world to see made his grappling career last all of three months with nothing to show for it.

Now this, with the result being Nick retiring from MMA AGAIN.

Screw this guy.

Ellenberger and Hendricks are the welterweight division's last hope to beat GSP. I wouldnt mind seeing Ellenberger vs GSP. As far as gsp vs silva is concerned...that ship sailed a long time ago

MMA is the only place Nick can make a lot of money, I don't see him being for real. He may never be champ, but there are still entertaining fights to be made with him.

Am I the only one that thinks that GSP just ain't the same since that 18-month lay off from that ACL injury? I don't know, he just doesn't seem like the same GSP. His striking seems to be nowhere it was before and looks a bit sloppy too now the past 2 fights, it used to look crisp as fukk and perfect. Cuhz right now, GPS would get demolished by Anderson, EASILY. In 2009 or 2010, I would have said GSP would have a great chance of beating Anderson, but right now hell no. Even his wrestling doesn't seem as explosive either. But, :yeshrug: he got the W anyways and nobody at 170 can see him or beat him at the moment. He doesn't seem that explosive anymore, I know ACL surgery is a bytch, but he doesn't seem like the same GSP anymore imo.

Neither one of them have any chance against GSP. He needs to cash out against Silva and call it a day
