that's sad because demetrious johnson is one of the best fighters in ufc but he was just set up to look bad (in terms of numbers) because of this shytty card.

i hate that dana white keeps putting fights out just so the ufc brand can stay visible. what they need to do is simply cut back on making ppvs every month just for the sake of having a ppv and focus on quality over quantity, reduce the number of fighters in ufc and pay the fighters more.
a am cool with a ppv a month that isnt the problem the problem is with the a million and 1 fight nights. That article about what happened to the ufc made a lot of sense, what sense is it to have 2 dudes on losing streaks headline? if they were popular and it was loser leaves the company that would be 1 thing but to just make a fight just cuz with no thought process behind it it just makes the whole thing seem meaningless.

ps the last part is a tad silly, why the fuk would you open up the pay fighters more argument in this climate where everyone is so vanilla, buyrates are down and fan fair is dwindling :why:

i agree about too many fight nights, but the bolded goes hand in hand with having too many fighters. they can cut back on how many ppl they sign and distribute that money to the fighters. and didn't dana or someone from ufc say they're just as/more valuable than the dallas cowboys and yankees? :sas1:

http://www.mmamania.com/2011/11/11/...-worth-more-than-the-new-york-yankees-and-the

did a quick search and found the article. if the yankees can afford to pay arod 200+ mill then i'm sure dana can afford to split half of that to the fighters and still make big profits:sas2:

i love mma but personally, their ppv lately has been lackluster to me, especially the undercard. if they cut back on the amount of fighters, reduce the number of events so they can stack their cards then they wouldn't have a problem with buys or viewers.

Johny Hendricks in his debut as a PPV headliner did 300k buys while a big star Canelo did 350K buys in his last fight. Jon Jones did 350k buys in his last PPV as well.

MMA definitely isn't taking over Boxing but they're holding their own right now. I think Jones-Gustafsson II could do near 1M buys if promoted properly.

I just think there are too many PPV events in UFC/MMA & Boxing; people are tired of paying while they are still watching these matches one way or another without putting a dent in their wallets. Some of these matches shouldn’t even be PPV worthy events and should be on regular TV or Cable. You will definitely see more PPV revenue decrease for years to come.

Canelo v.s. Angulo wasn't even for a title it shouldn't have been on PPV,

Cotto and Sergio Martinez was more a failur

Robert Guerrero made a 1 million dollars fighting the jap on showtime, the UFC is way too many problems to even want to be compared to boxing

each boxing match is it's own separate promotion, where as the UFC does a paid PPV the whole company takes a hit

You Weidman, and Jones up for this year, can't even think of anyone else worth seeing on PPV

where we got Canelo V.s. Lara this month

as well as GGG

Floyd is fighting in september and Manny in november

and that on top of the fights boxing had this year, its actually doing pretty well

All this ufc is dead talk is getting annoying

You got weidman vs machida sat
Penn vs Edgar sunday

Cormier vs the winner of jones Gustaffson :ohlawd:

Johnny Hendricks is the champion of a stacked division.

TJ Dillashaw shocked people and now theres the possible match against Urijah plus Renan Baraos road back to tge title

Pettis returning soon

Then a bunch of guys lower guys fighting it out almost every week trying to make a name for themselves. Anderson Silva will probably come back next year. GSP never retired. Im missing a lot of stuff but man a lot exciting things to come.

no one said the world wasnt still turning but does any of this stuff really have traction outside of the 2 potential lhw matches looming? Penn/edgar 3? Thats irrelevent, ppl need to slow they role on dillashaw he aint likely to be more popular than faber. Speaking of which they are/were team mates so they aint fighting. And nobody is interested in seein a rematch with baroa we know who the better fighter is. Pettis? Is still an unknown commodity and who knows what his brittle self will look like.

Gsp aint coming back and i doubt anderson holmes will be the same draw ufc fans are too fickle.

The TAM guys have all been talking like the match could go down. When Duane was leaving there was talk of TJ going too and then taking on Urijah. Renan I think was caught by surprise like everyone else. No ways hes hit his ceiling.

Showtime is always exciting and if he can overcome his injuries theres some interesting fights there.

Andersons comeback will do numbers and ive been hearing it be vs Nick Diaz.

Fans should be patient and give the UFC time to build there stars. Also I dont think theyre anywhere near there Golden Era. Wait till more of the poor kids get into MMA.
