Anyone paying full price for an Ubi game has impulse issues. They're typically half price after a month
Word. Folk were out paying 80 dollars for some N64 games and that was the 90s. Wild looking back
Ps2, GameCube, xbox games cost $50, that's the equivalent of $86 today.Word. Folk were out paying 80 dollars for some N64 games and that was the 90s. Wild looking back
No that was Take Two with NBA 2K that started this.Sony, innovating for the industry again
They made it a hot line, Sony made it a hot song.2K did it first, yall forgot 2k21 was the first to announce at 70 for this gen.
To be honest, i’m ok with this. As long as it’s a complete single player game you don’t have to buy extra shyt to play.$70 is just the beginning.
These budgets, increased QA teams and marketing in this soon to be platform exclusive era...we'll be looking at $100 games within the next couple years.
Sony stansNo that was Take Two with NBA 2K that started this.

Industry is gonna follow the leader.
Thank sony for innovating higher prices
Getting rid of cartridges and making games multi-platform helped to keep the price down.Ps2, GameCube, xbox games cost $50, that's the equivalent of $86 today.
Ps3,360 games cost $60, that's equivalent to $88 dollars today.
It's actually surprising that game prices have held at $60 for so long.
*Paid DLC.Getting rid of cartridges and making games multi-platform helped to keep the price down.
I've been on record saying that nikkaz still expecting games to be 60 bucks after 15 years at the same price point are delusional and we still paid more for games in the 90s.
Don't wanna hear shyt about 70 bucks when other shyt has gone up more substantially than game prices in a much shorter amount of times.
to put the blame on Sony when they weren't even the first to goto 70 standard is goofy.
These companies making record profits and people still try to justify them being greedier. Consumer wages aint going up but stock values sure are.Honestly the only thing that’s more challenging for companies to make money off of video games is the high production budget of AAA games There are way more monetization tactics and streamlined distribution strategies than ever before. Not to mention video games in general are more prevalent in pop culture so merch and movies/TV shows are more popular and lucrative. I‘m not buying the “plight” of these big ass video game companies when there’s more hustles than ever before.
Games literally used to be 100% physical purchases across the board whereas nowadays they can distribute millions of copies of games digitally with no shipping/manufacturing costs. They may have to do some splits with digital storefronts but overall it costs way less to actually make copies of your game and sell them. Many indie developers don’t even sell physical copies and can make very profitable games without a AAA budget if the concept is strong.
DLC and Microtransactions weren’t a thing back then, nor were regular updates of a game. If your shyt came out and was trash, thats it. There are no ”No Man’s Sky” or Cyberpunk comebacks in that era. If your shyt flopped then theres absolutely no chance at redemption, and not much chance of it getting a “second wind” with an update or DLC later down the line as people slowly stop playing the game
Many of the most profitable games of today titles are literally free Sony, TakeTwo, Ubisoft, and everyone else can eat that fukking $10, but they don’t have to so they won’t And now the precedent has been set. As long as Nintendo and Microsoft hold the line with their prices, everybody else bullshytting.
Games like Elden Ring & Breath of the Wild cost $60 and still selling like gangbusters with no microtransactions while Godfall launched at $70 on PS5 because ”inflation”
