bruh America doesnt even have maternity leave and they cry about giving crumbs for starving families as welfare

we will NEVER see basic income in our lifetime in the USA

Canada, and the EU will definitely get it though, and they will be mocked by conservatives here while these same conservatives kill themselves with alcohol, heroin and literal sucide as the EU countries grow

If weed can be legalized in some states with some form of Obamacare, then, dammit, basic income has got to be the norm to save capitalism. You think America can handle 250 million unemployed people, with no social benefits? :aicmon:

If the public puts enough pressure in it, it will come. These white conservatives are going to die out since they ain't having kids anymore and too burnt out in drug use, it will happen in another 30 years tops.

I don't know. I think there will be huge pushback from the public on two fronts: people complaining about losing jobs to automation, and those just not willing to ride in a self driving car. While I'm sure it's 100% safer, many people still wouldn't be comfortable with the idea. Also, I think these types of cars should go the consumer route first and then introduce it to the public as a public trans option.

More people are becoming aware of technology's encroachment on the middle and lower classes. While it's menial jobs today, tomorrow it's the engineers and the lawyers. Everyone thinks their job is safe but no ones is. People are realizing this and pushing back. These types or things won't happen en masse until some major concessions are made with the way our economy and work life are. Or there will be a revolt. I think...lol.

I'm surprised they lost so much honestly. Disappointing they didn't say why. I want to know lol.

Exactly. Too much money to lose. These STEM hoes are already in trouble under a Trump administration, but it will be a closed casket funeral for the working/middle class.

The sooner the better. A basic income would eliminate the need for a majority of the welfare and benefit programs we have now.

I hope it happens soon :blessed:

But these old white men can't see that. They think the world is going to die with them.

Means nothing. Plenty of big companies don't turn profits or do so marginally

Uber has powerful investors with extensive networks. I think they will come out on top when it's all said and done

Think a venture capitalist is going to soak up millions of dollars losses and depend on 'extensive networks'

Uber is not that big of a company to be making long term losses compared to say Amazon, Google, or Apple. The bleeding will eventually have to stop before funding eventually stops.

Uber is a one trick pony. They only have one business model where Amazon, Google and Apple has several divisions. You can compare Uber to these guys.

This might not really be as bad as folks think it is.

Amazon loses money every year and says fukk the shareholders. People still buy it tho because they have a ton of assets and their long term outlook is :gladbron:

Uber won't be around in 5 years time. Maybe even 2.
They seem to be a company with a business model that allows for massive losses of this amount...yet they still keep on going.
They won't.
Once their IPO goes public if it already has it will continue to lose steam and eventually will be devalued in terms of the company's worth.

VC funding. Me and my friends have convos about this all the time. All of these hot internet startups have larger valuations than McDonalds and Target eventhough the company was formed in somebody's mother's basement 2 years ago. Uber says theyre losing money because supposedly they're investing heavily in driver-less car tech. But Im thinking its also because their business model is flawed.

Uber doesn't accept just any investor. A billion dollars can come from anywhere. That's why Uber, and companies like them, only accept investors who can offer more than just capital.

Uber's investors aren't losing.
