Aye man, I'm just saying, a lot of brothers may feel that way. And I can understand why. No one wants to see a bunch of people say "oh this person shouldn't be black" whether the reasons are legitimate or not, it just does something to you internally and kinda pisses you off. Especially when its about a system that isn't exactly known for its diversity. When you grow up black, there's always a lot of people telling you what you can and can't do, a lot of institutions telling you who you can and can't be so the natural inclination is to support something like this on the strength of that. Whether you agree with that or not is cool, but I'm just being real with you. Racial relations in this country are piss poor and have been piss poor for a long long time so it doesn't surprise me the amount of brothers on this site saying they're down "just for white tears"

Trailer had all the same problems as the Ant-Man one, nothing stood out at all. That shot of The Thing's rock shell cracking open should have been it, but it's quickly glossed over and just another shot. The biggest problem is the de-emphasis of the actual "Fantastic Four" unit. If it wasn't for the title you wouldn't have known that it's even a movie about them. Looks like your standard sci-fi film with nothing distinctive about it. Don't see why this trailer couldn't have been released months ago, there was barely any CGI.

I'm excited....especially after reading Trank describing it as a Science Fiction/Horror film

Trank: I grew up on genre movies before superhero was a genre. I don’t know if there are Blockbusters [the video chain] anymore, but there would probably be a superhero section. And this would fit more into the science-fiction, or horror, or even drama sections of the Blockbuster. And that’s just kind of the way I look at it. I want it to feel like it’s its own thing.

Was there anything in any other superhero film that you guys saw and wanted to incorporate? Have any of those other movies impacted the look or feel of this?

Trank: No. I’m a huge, huge movie buff and I’ll go toe-to-toe with anyone in terms of movie trivia or movie history, my brain is a catalogue of movies. But when I set out to make a movie, I want to forget every influence I’ve ever had in my entire life and just think about what the story requires. I try not to be self-conscious when it comes down to influences. I don’t want it to be a movie filled with homages. It’s interesting to be in the middle of a movie, movies are so first-nature to me that by not thinking too much about other movies while making one, what is this going to turn out like? You don’t know. It’s fun. It gives me adrenaline. So I had more awareness early on in prep, and then maybe the biggest influence for me in terms of an overall view and communicating tool to the various department was Scanners or The Fly. In terms of the feeling of what these powers are. Because the drama speaks for itself in terms of the script or the story but the look of the movie and the feel of the movie has to be more evocative.

So you’re basically, from what I’m gathering, just to be clear, you’re going for a realistic horror/sci-fi movie. This takes place in the real world? What if this really happened to people? The horror that can come with some of these abilities.

You don't have to tell me that, but the people saying they love the white tears are the same shedding tears over the new Storm actress not being black enough for their liking. If in AoU they were to reveal Bruce Banner as a closet homosexual (think about that sexual repression!) that would make waves for its diversity of the first homosexual movie superhero, but somehow I think the Coli wouldn't approve of this leap in diversity. That's because a lot of people only want diversity for the things that they want. And that's fine, but don't expect me to play along with it.

I'm going to cry white tears of laughter though if that shot of Jordan looking up from the hood of the car with that goofy ass face makes it into the movie.

My only concern are the actors playing Susan and mr. Fantastic. I've seen them in other shows and movies and overall they are pretty mundane actors. Not sure if they will be convincing at all. Michael B Jordan might be TOO good an actor for the human torch. I've never seen Johnny have the the character depth that an actor like Michael can bring too the table. Oh and the thing looks a little corny . But the fact that the director said this is a sci fi horror flick makes me excited
