Anybody in here saying this is stupid have no clue how that shyt affects the reward center of kids. Even just the non micro transactions.

Yall should be happy this forces EA, Activision, and others to find alternate rev streams which many of yall been complaining about. No more loot shooters forcing them to make true AAA experiences.

It’s overdue that a bill like this comes forward. It seems like every big game these days is almost entirely built around micro transactions and loot boxes. It ruined madden and 2K (every series 2K is in charge of), likely did a number on fifa, pretty much ruined battlefront 2, and countless others since the games aren’t centered around an actual progression system designed to encourage new styles of play regardless of genre. The games instead get built around a pay to win mechanic while making them as tedious a grind as possible so that people instead of playing the game, will spend more money to unlock stuff and then realize the game isn’t actually fun to play, so they stop playing entirely after realizing they’ve been ripped off. The loot boxes absolutely are gambling in every sense of the term and the publishers know it. Loot boxes and micro transactions are exceptionally sleazy and unethical practices far worse than even cut content day 1 planned dlc is. For the health of the industry doing ahead, it’s the sort of thing that needs to be regulated since large corporations can’t be trusted with that sort of thing.

Why is like the first page so against this bill??? :heh:

Wasn't there a hawaiian congressman doing the same thing just last year in his home state???:mindblown:

If EA and other game companies didn't overdo it with the lootbox bullshyt this wouldn't have happened...:manny:

Back in the day we had complete games, rewards you had to play to unlock, not a pay 2 win bullshyt system or cosmetics thrown in just to look cool...

(Looking at you Todd Howard & Bobby Kotick!!! :stopitslime: )

A lot of people supporting this are using the disingenuous "but the children" argument knowing full well they don't care about no kids getting "addicted" to lootboxes. They're just so annoyed at a greedy monetization system that they're willing to cut their nose off to spite their face. Careful what ya'll wish for. All fun and games till these old geezers overstep their bounds on a medium they don't even understand.

The govt. ought to regulate the working conditions of these game companies, but since lootboxes inconvenience the players directly, that's what people are mainly concerned with.
