I feel like this was ploy to remove the Post Office and allow private mailers to take over........ :mindblown:

except it's a bunch of bullshyt what you highlighted:

The Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act (PAEA) was actually co-sponsored by both parties, unanimously passed by the senate, and passed the House via voice vote due to the broad bipartisan support and lack of opposition.

That's exactly what it was.

But let the media tell you it was those damn gov't employees with their outlandish salaries destroying the post office and raping the America citizen.

Thats all it was :youngsabo:. People are going to be livid if they have to pay a monthly fee to get their mail. However the USPS is protected by the Constitution if that means anything.

it would be interesting to see where 2nd amendment voters rest on this issue

we make money..

but we are unfairly taxed...

no other company pays 5.5 billion every year in prefunding..public or private

thats the real story

playing devils advocate here, but is that really a bad idea

ok lets say instead of 75 years out, it was 20yrs...sounds like fiscal responsibility to me

maybe instead of fighting it, you should push for it to be a necessary requirement for all government organizations :smugbiden:

by the way, seeing as this poison pill was pushed through by republicans, why haven't those republican been exposed as causing the taxpayers 15 billion a year??? poor communication by liberals yet again???

In the Silver Lining
i'll quote it again for you:

Not sure what your saying....whether Republicans supported en mass and only a few Democrats did, or what ever the ratio, is important to this story, but the larger issue is the fact that a decent institution that people of all stripes appreciate and many cases depend on for relatively inexpensive and reliable physical mail delivery service is being upended...and this 75 year into the future retiree sch:scheme:me which I've never ever heard of in the private or public sector appears to be a slick maneuver to take down the post office .... :scusthov:

Seriously, has anyone ever heard of a public or private institution putting up money for retiree/pension benefits 75 years into the future???? really?? :what:

(No I'm not talking about social security).

The irony is that at this rate the Post Office won't exist in 75 years ....and so where is all that money going to go..... it hilarious, slick and wrong..

my point is you guys keep quoting some ridiculous liberal fantasy blog about how republicans are trying to destroy the USPS when it was bi-partisan.

and you're last sentence - no, I've never heard of anyone doing that and it's asinine. the're literally setting up benefits for employees who aren't even born yet. If the USPS didn't employ so many people I would be screaming "privatize!"

when you say bi partisan, are we talking blue dog democrats??? or actual support from the democratic establishment

I never followed this situation so these are real questions until I get to run through a pdf file on the situation
