Op has a point. I think most people prefer lighter skin but I don't think it's a self hate thing. The only time I hear people going hard for dark skin people is online or at a pan african meet up. It's similar to how white people can be average and still get by on white privilege. Lighter people can get by on just lighter skin alone.
