gave this a few listen and it's ok for a tyler project. half of the album just felt like too much was going on with the beat/production and they just didn't do anything for me. i see people hyping up sticky but that song is terrible to me. doechii sounds like a nicki clone as well, not sure if that's good or bad for her.

overall if you like tyler then i think you'll be happy with the album. rah tah tah, noid, darling i, hey jane, judge judy and tomorrow are probably the only songs i'll go back to listen to.

I think Tyler finally got a mainstream crossover “urban” pop radio hit with Sticky :ehh:

I just heard it being played in DTLR :leon:

Now I understand that feature choice

Solid album but I do think he’s getting to that point of diminishing returns that most artists get to

It does kinda feel that way, at least creatively.

The highlight of his work has always been the production, for me. My only issue with Tyler's music is that he leans too heavily on his influences. So it's gonna sound like throwaway Neptunes tracks and mad Pharrell-isms all day with dude. And at this point in his career, I thought he would've gotten away from that by now and developed his own sh*t.

He's still on that wave of trying to shock the listener with outlandish talk and mockery, and that's what he's been stuck on since B*stard. The beats are always dope, but it's very easy to get tired of the same old sh*t from Tyler himself. He's wild talented, but he's still doing the "white teenager angst" thing as an almost mid-30's African bruh. He's gotta switch it up soon.

Noid is fire. Hey Jane and Darling I are dope too. Its not one of his best albums though, hes doing too much on some of these tracks.

My conclusion is he should produce more for other artists. Like produce a whole album for Earl or Lil Wayne or some up and coming rapper etc. Tyler is a solid rapper but production is his real skill.

Tyler on top right now but it’s the perfect time for a Rapper to diss him or someone expose him on being “fake gay” and we will get a classic album out of him

I’m thinking Tyler vs J Cole? :ehh:

Maybe Tyler vs EARL :leon:

Tyler vs Gambino

Yea I think Tyler gets a pass for it being “his style” but some of his songs/production is just forced ideas and random elements that just aren’t needed…. like random baby voice runs/adlibs or sound effects/drum and chord switches

Or some songs he tries too hard, it comes of as pretentious or “on the nose”.

It might work, but it’s a little predictable if you know Tyler’s music/style

I’d say “less is more” is better typically for production, lyrics can be more subtle and hit songs should just happen organically (which is the big difference between Tyler and Pharrell)

Tyler seems to always take the opposite route

He’s good with samples though :hubie:

Tell me, how is a baby sample random, when it's on a song about a pregnancy scare?
