2nd time through and I just think Tyler might not be for me. I truly don’t understand the allure of his music. Better than Igor imo but it’s a nah overall for me.

i wouldnt say it overhyped. if anything, a good chuck of his core young cac fanbase aint feeling this one. they can't relate to the dj tags and glitzy shyt talk.

the praise is warranted. it's the first album where he's firing on all cylinders as a rapper, producer and songwriter. this record coming from the same kid that was rapping about rape, farts and murder over bumass casio preset sounding beats 10 years ago is nothing short of impressive. it was pretty daring of him to pay homage to the genre in this way as a mainstream "alt" artist and outside of runitup, lemonhead and some odd mixing decisions, it's a great album.

Exactly. Has zero to do with other people’s mediocre releases. Tyler seemed to go back to the basics here while making something that sounds fresh. That’s pretty much it.

I think everyone agrees Tyler can rap good but that’s not all it takes to be a good rapper

if you consider his progression over the years his content hasn’t really gotten any deeper. His verses still lack substance

and he kinda of recycles the same themes/topics rap styles over and over every album (except IGOR which really wasn’t a rap album

he’s kinda similar to drake:

great music. Consistent with the wordplay but little depth or soul in his lyrics/message

but when it comes to creativity he’s one of the best

He’s clearly working on an instrumental and says the song has two bridges. The shyt sounds good, not deep.
