Folks are still discussing how much they enjoyed Flower Boy and Igor, you think everyone will just forget about this album? :mjlol:

“Forget about it” is hyperbole. Not meant to be taken literal

But in a sense, yeah I do. I like the album, I think it’s dope.. there’s just this overzealous shyt you dudes do. Y’all get super giddy over new releases and start doing and saying outlandish shyt like “Tyler is better than Kanye West..”

and Tyler himself will tell you that’s absolutely foolish, but like I said.. recency bias. This is fresh, and Ye’s been away, so ya’ll get carried away and forget the flawless catalog and impact Kanye had on pop culture, not just music - specifically because you’re too caught up in Tylers new project

It happens everywhere, not just music. I already see people calling Chris Paul the best point guard ever all over the place, specifically because what he’s done recently. When in reality, he’s not even the best PG in the league, let alone of all time. Recency bias.

eh...

he's coming back into the fold after years of trying to be anything other than the hip hop culture. he wanted to be "other" at the time when Drama was promoting the mixtape culture that was one of the last real movements in hip hop. he distanced himself from it because he was afraid of it and didn't fit into it and it wasn't friendly to the cac audience he really desired.

now the gimmicks don't work and he needs something authentic to align his lifestyle with in order to be legitimized. he shytted on it and now he needs it for his own creative survival.

miss me with that shyt.

he's not untalented, it's just this work isn't groundbreaking, and he ain't slick imo as to why he's embracing this style or aspect of the culture right now.
He was a kid of 18 or 19 when he started making serious waves in the music game and now he is almost 30, so of course he is going to mature and grow into his own which has been very apparent in his lyrics over the years.

I always felt like he and the rest of the Odd Future did fukk with the popular rap songs but when it came to making their music they had their own sound and style

2nd time through and I just think Tyler might not be for me. I truly don’t understand the allure of his music. Better than Igor imo but it’s a nah overall for me.
