Two years later, why did OKC trade Harden again?

While I agree that Scott Brooks is a bad coach, there's no way you can reasonably argue that OKC won that trade. What have they done so far to prove that they got the better end of that deal? Please, tell me, because I would love to hear how "assets" are an improvement over a top 10 player in the entire league

Gotten farther than HOU

In hindsight they should have kept them but I feel where they were coming from. It probably would have defeated the purpose to max out three wing players and Harden probably wouldn't have reached his potential being the third option.

stop trying to justify okc's blunder. first of all, not only did they not pay him but were there even negotiations? 4 years 52 million is a slap in the face. harden plays no defense but we can say that for a lot of guys in the league. hell man bledsoe turned down the suns weak offer of 4 48 and got a 70 million contract. thunder could have done something. they panicked. traded him for the first offer that sounds good. instead they should have waited and listened to ALL OFFERS.
Yes. He was dealt because they couldn't agree to a deal.

That and it was right before the season began. They didn't really have leverage to make a move because Harden didn't make much money.

They're chemistry together was dynamic.......I was :dahell: when they let Harden go and I'm not even an Oklahoma City fan........They'll never win a championship and most likely never make it back to the Finals again. Durant or Westbrook will probably leave before long.
Unless Harden grows nine inches (no homo) and becomes an interior presence at C, Harden's not the missing link between OKC and the title.

nobody told those idiots to start shytalosha

You don't start Harden with Russy and KD. Too many shots to go around and we know how ass Harden is on D. Switch with Sef and Thunder had no bench scoring options.

Played starter mins tho and came up big for them in time crunch time:yeshrug:

Agreed, but paying him that much money with Russy and KD would have never worked out. They still need a better post position player, I don't like Ibaka for this team, despite how great he is.

4 years 52 million is not a deal. then i read they bumped it up a few million. thats a disgrace.

Multiple sources have told me that, when Oklahoma City's Sam Presti decided to shop James Harden, Golden State was his first call. He wanted Klay Thompson and a pick. The Warriors would only consider the trade if Oklahoma City took back Biedrins or Jefferson for 2013 expirings, knowing they'd get crushed by the luxury tax in 2014 with Harden's extension plus Steph Curry's extension plus David Lee plus Bogut/Jefferson/Biedrins. At that point, Presti went to Washington (offering Harden for Bradley Beal, and unbelievably getting turned down), then Houston (where the shopping heated up). Presti never ended up calling Golden State back.
